Awww thank you, Wendy :)
I love this presentation, the focus is on your lovely art.
Thank you so much :)
Woow...looks amazing!! Congratulations❤️people are so lucky there to see it🎉
Thank youuu darling!!
You're killing it with the inspo this new year & its so appreciated! You're a great cheerleader to all of us creatives. I've found the first book you talked about on thriftbooks & plan on ordering a copy. Also, I spy "Trespass" on your shelf..always inspo for this gal.
Appreciate you saying so :) I’m trying to bring more creative goodness to the channel this year and I hope you stay tuned for it!! That’s awesome you found the book on a thrift site - hope you enjoy it! :)
Man love your designs. What black underglaze do you use and do you do multiple coats? It’s so lovely and solid.
Thank you! I use something called “designer liner” - you can find it here on my amazon storefront: Check out this list Ceramic Essentials from fionac www.amazon.com/shop/fionac/list/1OSQ6KBRSWFUC?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_aipsflist_9JHYRGJ94Y255YRG6TCN&language=en_US
For anyone else in the UK, I love to buy art books from the wonderfully-named Books About Art. They often have copies with a mark on the cover or some other imperfection, for much cheaper. Plus they're just a nice small business. :) Thank you for this tour, lots of great inspiration!
Amazing!! I'd love to visit one day :) Thank you for watching and sharing!
The vessels you made are so beautiful. It’s nice that you can collaborate with your mom ❤
Aw thanks 🥰🥰🥰
I love documentaries. Recently, I have been watching some videos about John Singer Sargent and that has inspired me to take a new direction with my work. Thank you for inspiring us, Fiona. If people only created for money, much of that work would not be in museums.
Sounds like you’ve had a similar experience to me watching Gerhard Richter. :) That’s awesome! Also, you are right about the museums!! Thanks for watching :)
@ I love Gerard Richter too! ❤️
Looking for the speaker at the Morris Museum and I don’t see it on the website. What am I missing?

What a great collection! I love using art books as inspiration for my own work. Taking an artist’s piece or collection and really zooming in on their techniques or marks, trying them in my own sketchbook. Klimt is one of my favourites to study. I feel very lucky that my collection of art books are courtesy of my job at a publishing company who has many long and storied relationships with galleries around Canada. We publish at least 4 art catalogues a year in a variety of art styles. I have quite a collection. ☺️
Yes! Sketching using references from books can be so fun :) I guess I’m sketching in clay referencing the clay book at the moment lol :) Klimt is so good!! The colors, the patterns - YUM!! That’s amazing you get published works through your job!! How big are the catalogs typically?
@ They range from 50-80 pages with full colour plates, to some as large as 200+ pages. It depends on the artists body of work. We produce a lot of Group of Seven related books and currently have a catalogue that accompanies a Tom Thomson exhibit that is making its way around the county and is currently in the Beaverbrook Gallery in Fredericton that is around 260 pages.
@kathyarrr wowwww! Ok so you’ll need a library by the time you retire hahahaha
@@FionaCArt Yes,yes I will. 😆😆😆
Hi Fiona, Dream in Color is my favorite! I am going to get it! Happy you are sharing your knowledge and books with us! Have a beautiful day!
Thanks for watching as always, friend :) Hope you enjoy the book!
I love the inspiration.
Yayyy :) thanks for watching!
I love art books and enjoyed seeing yours. You are right that art books are crazy expensive. I’ve been enjoying buying them from Thrift books or Abe books at a huge discount. I’ve also found that as our libraries transfer over to more digital media and less physical books the often put their art books in the friends of the library sales. There are so many ways to pick them up at bargain prices I’m afraid they may outgrow my studio soon 😊
Yes!! Second hand books are an amazing way to collect, but you do need to watch out for storage haha Thanks for watching :)
Exactly!!! Thank you for communicating this!
Thank you for watching :)
Love your collection!!!! Sooo inspired to get some of these books! #hooked😍😍😍😍😍😍
Yayyyyy! Because reading is what? FUNDAMENTAL!!
Im sure zelda was a husky in a former life, love that girl & i bet shes been a ray of light with all that you have going through over these past few months .
Haha maybe she has some husky in there somewhere 😂 she has been the reason for me to get out of bed some days when I otherwise wouldn’t have wanted to honestly. Dogs really are the best :)
That blue handle vase had a hint of Georgia O'Keeffe to it ( reminded me of ovaries & uterus for some reason). Saying goodbye to your spaces must of been really emotional for you.. ive got to say im surprised at how young most of the crowds are at renegade. Great to have youthful people interested in art & craft markets.
Yeah! It did have that feeling. Dan kept saying it reminded him of someone named Dobie from Harry Potter because of the “ears” haha but im glad it found a loving home! 🥰 And renegade def speaks to a younger crowd, but there were folks of all ages there :) It was a fun one!
Great job on Christmas chalet, but I could tell it was starting to take it's toll on you or was that just the celebrations lol . Excellent news on the signing of the house sale to fiona , now the new chapter really begins so get out there & embrace every good thing that comes your way! Love from Australia xo
Haha oh my gosh - hard juggling all the holiday celebrations on top of working the chalet lol 😂 And yes! Onward and upward for me :) thank you!! ☺️
Hola Fiona, love your work 💕 I wanted to share a simple treatment for migraine, these are ice water compresses, you put them on the forehead, eyes, temples and on the nack neck, alternately and continuously until the pain decreases, I hope it is useful ❤
Hi Nanette :) thanks for watching and sharing! I have done that treatment and it can help dull the head pain symptoms that come with migraine!

Happy new year Fiona, sorry I'm playing catch up a little late, hope you & zelda had a wonderful Christmas
We did :) Hope you did as well! Happy 2025, friend!!
i got out of drawing for so long, that now i am no longer as good as i was. so its harder to see my vision. i consider myself to be an artist. but pretty much all the art comes out opposite from what is in my head. i never really learned fundamentals. i just always had a certain way of drawing and was good. Now none of that is true really. Things just dont magically flow and somehow be correct. So i am stuck at the beginning i think. and also questioning if i am an artist because my vision won't come out.
If you are making then you are an artist :) A lot of the time I also have an initial vision, but the work goes where it wants to. Sometimes to amazing unexpected results, but also a lot of the time it doesn’t amount to much lol But hey it’s a part of the creative process: make lots of bad art to make any good art! In regard to technique, that can always be learned but takes practice. You got this!
@@FionaCArt I guess then I have to learn how to tell the art what I want it to do as well as techniques. Thank you. I will keep trying.
@devernepersonal3636 yes, please keep trying! :) thanks again for watching!
Love this video! Can't wait for Donna Payton's exhibit that opens at the Monmouth Museum this weekend! 😊
I’m so excited too!! It’s gonna be amazing :)
Great tips! I hope I can find a new friend like you as I've moved to a new town recently. Thinking of starting a meet up for casual art making at my house so I can meet other artists. New subscriber!
Thank you for watching and subscribing:) If you need an excuse for a meet up, try a sketchbook club! You could even meet a local library :)
Great message thank you!!!
You’re very welcome :) thank you for watching!!
Fiona, hi. Please, tell me what kind of paint u use in your outdoor projects? Latex or acrylic?
It depends on the surface, but for this project it was latex!
Im a creative artist with design tendencies haha and I need to express my creativity
Yes - love it!! :) Please continue to express your creativity!
I work on top of old work a lot and have revisited old paintings it is interesting to see your progression and update an old piece, love your coil vessels. Interesting video Pinterest is great for inspiration and cleaning art room. Let's see if I can create something new today.
@JanineHyslop that’s great! Working on top of old work is fun :) Thank you for the sweet comment about my coil vessels! Pinterest is wonderful!! Hope you made something new today :)

13:30 Aww, Zelda is so cute. 🥰
My wee baby <3
11:30 I had no idea that corgis love snow. 😍👍
Yes!! I can't confirm for every corgi, but every time there's a first snow, the corgi groups I'm in all post their corg's running around loving it lol they have double coats so they def prefer the cold to the heat!
2:20 Yes! The same is true for writers of all skill levels: If you write, you are a writer. If you write a novel, you are a novelist, even if you never share or publish it! Write poems? You're a poet! Publishing and selling your work is something completely different. You can be an artist AND a business owner, but you don't have to be one to be the other. ❤😍
Absolutely! Thank you for watching and reaffirming my thoughts <3
At the moment, my two favorites are pilot pens for fine lines, along with Sharpie no bleed pens in black for capital letters, and the Sharpie "creative marker" that are "paint like" brush pens. I love Golden acrylic paint, but I'm more likely to pick up my box of brush pens than fiddle with setting up and cleaning up a painting project. I bought two sets of COPIC alcohol markers a couple years ago, and did some great doodles with them that first month, but rarely use them. I'm a writer who likes to art a little, but I love watching full time artists talk about their craft and supplies! ❤👍
Thank you for sharing your favorite materials with us :) I had some COPIC that I rarely used as well that were gifted to me (I think? lol). I donated them to charity! Hopefully someone else will make good use of them. Brush pens are so fun and I definitely reach for mine often as well (faber castell<3)
Thank you ! 🩷💕🥰
What a beautiful story about collaborating with your mother <3

The pep talk i didn't i think need, very essential. Thank you 🙏
It was for me as well :) We got this! Thanks for watching :)
This one is definitely a winner. Thank you! I'm off to clean up my studio as we are resetting the house for a more calm & easy to maneuver 2025 (where we can help it atleast!).
Amazing 🤩 hope the reset helps you in all the ways you want and need :) Thank you so much for watching and I wish you a very art filled 2025!!
Is an Artist and a Creative the same thing? I make art everyday as a practice of being creative. I have no desire to sell. I only make it for creating and getting others involved in the process of reconnecting with themselves and creating too. For me an Artist is a person who is dedicated to their craft, getting better at that medium every single day. Honing it to that 10K hours in Mastery. Often on just one thing or one simple idea done over and over and over again. For me a Creative, is a person who looks for multiple vehicles to express themselves. Maybe it's art, and in that medium it's many things. Or maybe cooking, gardening, problem solving in their business or even organizing may be the creative process. All these are creative acts, that have some artistic flair about them and that person may even be an ARTIST. Though for me at the core, an Artist is that person who has 10K hours in mastery. It can be in any field and that person I consider an Artist/Master in their craft. I would love to hear your feedback and what your thoughts are. I always appreciate expansive conversations. Great video BTW, going to share this with some folks who I know are Artist's. I know that because their whole livelihood is based on what they create. That too for me is a solid artist. Thanks for a brilliant intelligent and very cogent delivery. I always appreciate great insight and perspective.🧡✨🧡
Hey there! Wow - thank you for the amazingly thoughtful comment and for watching/sharing the video. It’s really appreciated. I think of being an artist and being a creative as the same thing. I do agree that referring to oneself as creative can be a bit more expansive, like your example of problem solving in business. I would refer to the person who is mastering a particular medium as a “craftsman” perhaps or maybe just by the particular medium, like “an illustrator” or “potter”. For me as an artist, I focus on painting, ceramics and public art as all a part of my art practice. I know plenty of multidisciplinary artists who use several mediums. But as you mentioned, I could use the artist label per your definition because it’s often one simple idea done over and over (bright, bold, colorful abstracts in my case). With that said, I don’t think anyone has to fit themself into anyone else’s label and definition of things. If you believe artist’s are only artist’s if they make a living off of it then that is totally fine! Personally, I think you can be an artist who makes things without having to sell those things. But if you want to be a “professional artist” or as I say in the video, “have an art business” then selling is a piece of that. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts and opinions :) Wishing you an art filled 2025!
@@FionaCArt Expansive conversations are always enlightening. I agree, we don't need labels, just more ART!!😉🧡✨🧡 Wishing you more growth and new ways for expression in 2025!
Thank you for your pep talk today. I live in a small town and I have sold several pcs of art but I feel like I can't keep creating if I'm not selling. I need to refocus and decide what's next for me.
Of course - thank you for watching ❤️ I wish you luck on your artistic journey!
