I remember back in the days when we couldn't even keep up with Steven .......hits riddim...after hits riddim.... his beats brought the best out of .....Gaza and gully....... he couldn't pick sides he was in the middle...true legandry guy
This kid is a Genius... Dancehall was really nice when this youth was dropping beats on regular.. the days when Vybz, Aidonia and Vado would drop even 2 tracks on one riddim
u ave a good point . when he and russian resurface the dancehall scene i think thier international experience will take dancehall to where it needs to be
Every producer hits a ceiling at some point in time..obviously there is no money on dancehall...putting out a riddim juggling is all good...and getting couple hits from it is even great. But how far can it take u
Afrobeats/AfroPop hasn’t taken over Dancehall, it’s just hotter at the moment. But even their artists are inspired by Dancehall & Reggae and other Caribbean genres of music. It’s evident in their music. So how has it taken over when SOMETIMES they are copying our ting?! Dancehall is lukewarm or in decline rather lol right now...in the parties Dancehall still has its place and hasn’t been replaced by afrobeats. Outside of Jamaica on platforms like Radio, music tv channels etc. Over the years of being in and out of the mainstream, Dancehall music has always been marginalised and received a lot of fight before and during new school Afrobeats(AfroPop)
Stephen break out was massive impact on dancehall, all those riddim and songs an still never get diss being neutral with Gaza gully and alliance....greatness
Samething kartel said to skatta is the team behind the artist is not the song by it self jus magically crossed over ,he went far as to say if even mackerel av a big label behind her she would cross over
Lord help dancehall we need a saviour get back to dancehall keep the music dancehall respect our own craft Americans respect R&B and hip hop so focus on our reggae platform
Love this interview the music badly needed to apply to the Corporate business side...why the players in Reggae and Dancehall not taking up the mantle in terms of the business side
Yeah me youngster give them the real cross over, something definite to the people ears, attentive sounds, whenever you do the world gonna love it, i see your levels me youngster your on to real big things, say no more ☕🇬🇧✌
Steven mashed up daancehall and left.....when he cane on the scene in 05 him changed the sound of dancehall sped up the Riddim dem with no baseline....then everybody start to follow him...chimney,russian,notnice etc...
Him definitely change it! For better or worst is anybody's guess. But it change and I too dont think the music grow global since. The music doesn't have the same vibration and frequency it use to! The base/drum element is not the same. In fact it's missing. Musician/producers need to study Jamaican music from the ROOT! The real dancehall language is miss (for lack of a better word).
Yes the business part of the music is important, but not every artist or producer have the know how and the information available to them,, in places like the United States & UK they have corporations and big labels training and grooming Artist / producers they have lawyers just for music. But then again theres a lot of Artist trying to go independent, so what I'm really saying is the people that know the business of music that is from Jamaica should offer to share if they really care about dance hall.
The problem with dancehall is Lyrics I’m of the opinion that we are the Gods and we are the demons; The lyrics now is demon driven guns guns guns sexsexsex madness where are are we going with that people out here are not like that
imagine, the catalog of ska, blue beat, root rock reggae is bigger than Motown. 60 years later - No knowledge - No structure - 1/4 industry - 100% nonsense
@@sabrenagranville2564 He talks about structure, management, marketing record label, ..... Edward seaga back in the late 50's whom was a music producer and owned a record label was called upon to introduce ska to the world. He released an album featuring various artist and the rest is history. Island records plus others captured and marketed the backbone of reggae music. So true now the music losing its identity and they themselves confused. They no know where to take it now. They think by changing the sound it would be more palatable to the overseas audience but it's not. Pple want hear the good old Jamaican music with all its AFRICA ELEMENTS/SUBSTANCE in it. As bob say "when it hits you, you feel no pain" people no realize how deep that lyrics is!
Downhill? You talking about a producer with 2 to 3 Grammy awards. Kartel will only dream about that. Unu thing music stop at pleasing the ignorant Jamaican youths, the man is doing just god internationally
This Crossover music argument are so on the lips of the jamaican artist musicians. What do they mean when they say "crossover"??? Going overseas to make music?! Lol! Are made they just cross over from one box to another box!? For it's not telling in the music production they are producing. I am not inside of any box, and i am as sure as hell there ain't no one else out here with me. Stop saying it, and start doing it!!!

One of the men responsible for HipHop sounds and electronic music becoming more prominent in Dancehall but he’s a good producer & we miss him

Afrobeats has no direction but just because of these hip hop riddim and these no talent artists it seems like afrobeats is taking over.
