This brought back so many memories. I was born in Wanlock street in a single end and had seven brothers and sisters. My ancestors were probably married in the Govan church, I think it was called Snt. Mungo's. The school in Harmony Row is saint Anthony's, and many generations of our family worked in the shipyards, actually my father fell off a ship into the Clyde when he was fourteen and carried a bad limp thereafter, they were allowed to work at that age then.

Thank you or sharing this excellent documentary, you certainly caught the feel of Govan back then! I had the privilege of attending Govan Old Church of Scotland when the Rev. David Orr was Minister. I sang in the Choir when the Fabulous John Currie was Choir Master!! I also did Youth work at The Pierce Institute! Govan Folk were, and I am sure, still are, a Great People, and a strong handshake was enough to seal any deal made! I feel I was lucky to be born, raised, and educated in Glasgow and spent a great amount of time in Govan! Now I reside in Denver Colorado USA! Thank you, again, for being so generous in sharing! Be well, John S. Evans.
I just finished viewing an excellent RUclips film on John Currie when he came to the US as Conductor for the world known Los Angeles Master Choral! Well worth viewing, see on RUclips John Currie era (1986-1991) LAMasterChoral

Brought back fond memories.I grew up on Sharp Street which ran between Wanlock Street and Dunvegan Street (used to be Holm Street).
Spent many years in the Boy’s Brigade at the Pearce Institute and when the clip of the Boy’s Brigade is shown, guess what, when the individual boys are shown I am the first person you see,big surprise.
Loved my time in Govan, great people.
    I now live in Newmarket,Ontario,Canada.

This is so beautiful. How we got away from living life this way I will never understand. That church was a 1400 year tradition and we have just walked away from that like it's nothing. What are we doing? I would trade money and technology in a moment if it meant having this kind of life back. We can get there again, if we want to
