There's nothing like living in the place you were born and raised in and being scared you might get your head kicked in in broad daylight for no reason.
It's psychological civil war. The chances of being randomly attacked are still incredibly small. It's the fact that the chances are increased relative to other places that instills fear in people.
I really miss when Limmy did sponsored streams paid for by the Glasgow tourist board showing off the delights of the city. So much culture packed into one video 🙏🏻

Limmy captures Scotland and its nuances, humour and tragedy within the 3 minutes and it gets better and better. Neil Oliver probably wouldn't walk into Govan without a stab-vest, bodyguards and a full production team and that would just be to get directions on how to get out of there.
This is like in the Sopranos when they find an early stage dementia affected, Junior, wandering about the streets of New Jersey looking for his wallet.
We're used to it. I'm half Glaswegian and half Dundonian so this kind of stuff is normal to me. Tourists always get a shock when seeing it, their romantic fantasy depiction of Scotland with picturesque mountains and kilt-wearing clansmen bagpipe players is crushed when they see the reality of the poverty and post-industrial past we have. Neds constantly destroying everything, extreme urban decay, absurdly high drug deaths, and poverty. It's sickening but it's the truth.
I love going to old places like this, I live in Ireland and we used to go to the Hellfire club in Dublin which is about an hour walk from where I live. The Hellfire club is a very old decayed stone building but it is more intact than any other from it's time with rooms to explore, it isn't fenced off and anyone can go and no security or tour guides are present, no one making money from your visit it's just there. It's in the middle of farm land with a small forest close by. Good place to have a few drinks and get stoned
In any other city they would have used their old docks and set up a historic site, not in Glasgow, not with Glasgow city council. I live round the corner from here and it breaks my heart at the state of it. So much history just sitting rotting. Glasgow to a T. I went to visit the shipyard museum In Govan- well worth a visit, but a community in Govan had to raise the money themselves to build it with zero support from the local authority.
