  • The 3-5-2 Formation is one of the most famous tactical schemes in football, largely due to its use by many teams during the 90s, with the success of teams like Bilardo and Maradona's Argentina, who became world champions in 1986, and Scolari's Brazil, who claimed the world title in 2002.
The 3-5-2 formation has experienced a revival in recent years and has also found significant application in modern football. In this video, we delve into this tactical system with a bit more detail.

The 352 with 2 cdm's is a beautiful formation.. an Extra CB and 2 strikers in front mire effective on the final third not to mention availability of wing play and a glorious number 10😭

The danish 3-5-2 was more like a 3-1-4-2 in attack (assuming Morten Olsen did not rush forward - in which case it was a 2-1-5-2) - and (5-5)-0-0 in defense (two defensive lines when under heavy pressure).
The danish 3-5-2 gave some spectacular results in 1986 (the match against Uruguay), even if the last match went the wrong way... (against the country that shall remained unnamed).

Its fun to play, really depends on whos playing defensive box ta boxers or attackers. The wings fluctuate like that, the 3 defenders are the base....Then the 3 mids dictate allot centrally....loved Juves Midfield with Pirlo infront of that defense!! Thats Pirlos rebirth after 30!!

The idea behind this formation tactically?? Ei pre-match talk purposes and organization from the back?? Starts with a 3 at the back, from there where do I move on the field from a midfield perspective is everybody's mentality. From marking opposition to makin runs. Formation?? Sometimes a LWB drops and it's a four man defense, or he's up and RWB drops to mark the opposition. In position its a plus to flip this into 2-7-1, with fluid movement!! Where do I need to be to create space, create play, keep the ball. Then recover the ball again, and continue!!

It's a 3 man base that fluctuates based on the flow of play ideally. Against a stronger team it's a 5-3-2 Catenaccio!!

What would be the best way to play this formation, coming from a CDM perspective

2 CDM variation 1 could drop and another could pick up as a box to box
