I always think of, "The Emperor's New Clothing" when I think of modern art. Not so much because I don't see it as art, I do, but because it is nothing but dripped paint without peoples faith in it. The stories that surround Pollock are the art.
I had a piece of art that far surpassed any painting of Pollock. When my girls were 3 and 5 I painted a small table white then lets them paint it with my acrylic paints. Talk about gestural brilliance! Too bad the girls didn't know any billionaire art collectors.

"The Emperor's New Clothing" It’s a beautiful story about the value of art and how context can influence our perception.

I've always had mixed feelings about Pollock, and whether his art was truly legitimate or if it were in fact an accident rather than an expressive creation. On the other hand, some of his best work is moving if not amazing insomuch as the accident ascends to some sort of creative purity with an ethereal force and beauty of its own.

Pollacks work has about as much artistic value as a popcorned ceiling

It’s a funny comparison! Pollock's work often divides opinion. For some, his paintings evoke emotion and experimentation, while others see them as meaningless works.

Pollock’s abstract expressionism can certainly seem like an enigma. It challenges traditional ideas about art and meaning, which can make it both avant-garde and somewhat elusive.
