  • Wherever you may be watching this video from, you may or may not have many connections to Lithuania. Maybe you’re planning to visit the region as a tourist (or maybe a student) and so you’re just doing some research on RUclips. But today, I’m going to tell you that it’s possible youve already interacted more with Lithuanians or their businesses, than you’re actually aware of. That’s because there are a handful of pretty well-known international companies that were founded in the country, or at least founded by people of Lithuanian heritage. Let’s look at some of these businesses in today's video.

Thanks for the video, it may indeed surprise some. Random unsuspecting Lithuanians first and foremost among them :D! Or perhaps those times are now gone forever with Nords officially becoming a unicorn earlier this year and therefore getting a lot of domestic news attention. But I'd say as late as this time last year, most Lithuanians still didn't know it's a Lithuanian company even in cases when they had personally signed up as clients off of an ad from their favourite RUclipsr or Twitch streamer. Especially if they're not from Vilnius and have never spotted employees with the blue NordVPN lanyards getting coffee somewhere in the city centre or doing the Vilnius marathon as a team with matching T-shirts or something like that.
And speaking of the same holding as Maxima, but another step of consolidation higher yet (Vilniaus Prekyba), the AKROPOLIS shopping malls are also developed and owned by them, as well as the EUROAPOTHECA (Eurovaistinė in Lithuania) pharmacies, of which there are like 700+ across the Baltics and Sweden.

@@jurgismykolaspalciauskas5900 Rather funny to learn that after putting over a million kilometers under my belt behind a steering wheel of a semi-truck - I apparently do not know what a logistics company is. Let it be known to you that logistics company is the one that is in the business of logistics and this is a VERY vague term. You do not need any trucks or physical equipment to be called one, all you have to do is to connect a seller to a purchaser and facilitate the delivery. The means are not important. That natgas pipeline from Russia to Germany is also a piece of logistics infrastructure because it moves the goods from the source to the consumer(or it could have if not for the war). Nor does one measure the "largeness" of any corporation by the amount of trucks it has. Corporation is measured by the net or gross revenue, profits, ROI, and what not. In case of logistics - by the tonnage moved, by asset value etc. And by revenue - sea container haulers are bigger than any of the trucking companies simply because one ship can hold more containers than the entire 9000 trucks of your Girteka.

I imagine the fact that it’s called Nord and they never really publicize their “Lithuanianness” internationally is on purpose, since people who don’t know anything about Lithuania might be scared off? The term nord/Nordic is better known and has a generally good reputation…
      Just my own theory though!

Could you make comparism video about Lithaunia, through history?
In which year, the electric light was first introuduced to Lithuania and so on!
Could you compare the Parts of Eastern Prussia to each other: Memelland (LT); Ermland (PL); Masuren (PL); Königsberger Gebiet (RU)?
Polish politicians try make the Polish name version of Königsberg [Preußen] the official one!
The literal meaning of the Polish name version, is equal to the German name version!
Soviet President Michail Kalinin planned the Katyn massacre, killing the elites of the Rezpospolita, the Polish country from 1918 bis 1939!
    Tilsit is still called "Sowjetsk"!
