Sounds and runs just what we use at work. Off the top, I would say a plug, filter, fuel line, and maybe the carb needs a bit of adjusting. After that she should spin like brand new slightly used again.
It could also have a crack cylinder due to the fact of heat cycling sleeve cools off crack shrinks has compression sleeve heats up crack grows loses compression that's why some equipment runs great when it's cold and shitty when it's bad and once you turn it off you ain't starting until it's cold again
Screen in exhaust, valve lash and fuel tank vent don’t listen to oe mix ratio only 40:1 in all 2 cycle engines on tools like this is grease the attachment there is a plug you remove and when you buy stihl grease it screws right in doesn’t take much
I was gonna say there could be a handful of reasons for this issue. My first thoughts were either a fuel leak, or just being a bit lean. I did read other comments though and I see it's a different issue entirely. Never heard of a 4 stroke that runs on 2 stroke fuel. Now it makes a lot more sense why you need to make the adjustments you need to make. Can't wait for the full vid, it's gonna be interesting to see this one.
I have a 110 it gets a good bit of use as we have a good bit of fencing and buildings a long drive way it's only ever needed metering diaphragm once and a primer bulb starts with a slow half Pull and valves have never been adjusted
@@HomeGaragechannel ok. If it has valves, that is a likely suspect I would think. In spec, until it expands in the heat and the gap widens beyond the spec limit.
Adjust valve lash, when I got my first 4 mix Stihl and after 15ish hours it ran like total garbage when I called the place I but from they said oh yeah you gotta lash the valves, I'm like is this a 1963 Chevy?
I have a question for anyone in the comments that can help out can anyone tell me why my lawnmower won’t start unless I put spray carb cleaner into the carb then it will run and stay running 🤔🤔
sure, it sounds like either your choke system is not working correctly or the Fuel that's in the tank needs to be replace for fresh fuel, including what fuel made it to the carb.
Don't know much about Stihl but my cheapy edger always gets dirt caked on the inside of the plastic cover and it's a pain in the ass to scrape out every 10 mins, sometimes it keeps going when i let go of the trigger. anyways I'm probably retarded
I apologize, I don't use an edger, very often, so I don't know much dirt, gets caked, in there, but I would imagine, it's more of an issue, on what type of dirt you're dealing with.
If it's 4mix engine I always adjust the valves when I get em in. They run a lot smoother when in spec
you're right!
@@rolls_8798 yep. Complete with valvetrain. Uses the mix oil for crank and cylinder lubricant as there is no crankcase oil.
How could I adjust the ones I have?!
@@erickmunoz8929 with a .010 feeler guage a t27 torx tool, remove the spark plug and follow a TDC on compression procedure. Check the lash and adjust accordingly
Bingo I was gonna say 4mx= valve adjustment maintenence
Valve adjustment

I am guessing valve lash needs some attention. Can't wait to see the repair video on this!!
2 strokes do not have valves
@@gavinw4165 it’s a stihl-4 mix. 4 stroke that runs on 2 stroke gas-oil mix
coming up tomorrow.
thank you Tyler Fortney.
@@gavinw4165 this one does I can show you and tag you in a vid in a few weeks if you want

Replace filters, clean screens, check lines.
Screen for the exaust gets carbon on it is my guess
STIHL WILL OUTLAST ANYTHING...TAKE CARE OF IT AND SELL EVERY 10 YEARS..OR KEEP IT FOREVER WILL LAST
DEF THE ISSUE,BUT IF YOU TAKE IT TO THE STIHL YOU BOUGHT IF FROM THEY WILL HANDLE IT
I'm going to go with either crank seals or ignition module!
those are good ideas
Looking forward for this one, as mine can be a pain to re-start from hot
thank you Ady Cooke.
Adjust valves, clean air filter or replace, check and clean spark arrestor. Replace plug ya that’s about it. Oh oil change.
Needs blinker fluid
Remove the spark screen and adjust the carb. Also run it mostly out of gas before you put it away.
very good advice.

The spark arrester screen in the muffler, pull it out burn it off with a torch or replace it! Also check the air filter.
that's the plan

Valve adjustment?
you got.
Slim has the answer! Take out the spark arrester put new fuel lines and filter
Spark plug cleaning? Carb cleaning? New Air filter?
all are Good ideas
Tank vent
4 mix system the valves need tightened
I have a 110 it gets a good bit of use as we have a good bit of fencing and buildings a long drive way it's only ever needed metering diaphragm once and a primer bulb starts with a slow half Pull and valves have never been adjusted
very nice, and thank you Bike life.
Valve Adjustment
Exhaust screen or valves are my guesses
two very good guesses!
@@HomeGaragechannel thanks
no problem
Cool going bad
Exhaust Screen I 86ed mine a while back
I'm going to go with valves.
Fuel line collapsing, fuel filter needs replacing
Maybe exhast
Probably the modulator.
Spark screen
None of our stihl equipment restarts when hot. Even brand new right off the shelf they’re problematic.
wow that sucks.
Carbon buildup on the spark arrestor screen
Is it a 2 stroke? Gets hot and won’t run is a coil problem usually.
no it's a 4 mix, so stroke fuel in valved engine.
@@HomeGaragechannel ok. If it has valves, that is a likely suspect I would think. In spec, until it expands in the heat and the gap widens beyond the spec limit.
I’m so sad that they don’t make that model anymore. The fc90
me too.
clean exhaust screen
turns out this carb was working but it had a seriously leak, and needed to be replaced
2 strokes need the exausts cleaned
Clean the spark arrestor
Need to clean the spark arrested screen
My guess will be the ignition module.
that's a good idea. thank you RayFpv.
It needs a Whipple bearing
Need a new timing chain
It’s pushrod
It sounds like a four stroke to me so the valve lash Hass to be adjusted
you got.
if its what im thinking its lashing valves otherwise they have running issues
you got.
Does it stihl work 😂
My guess is a valve adjustment?
you would be right.
Haha, old days when stuff like that had a gas engine 😂😂
Clean the filter and muffler plate.
I’m glad I run 2 stroke lawn equipment and not 4 stroke so yeah I’m glad I bet it needs a valve adjustment
you're right.
New radiator?? Water pump?
Damn right.
Check the spark arrestor for carbon build-up. Makes a day and night difference sometimes.
thank you Benjamin Rezac.
What are your thoughts on Echo engines?
I think they're great, no real complication, just a simple 2 stroke with quality materials. I'm more likely to get an Echo, than a Stihl.
Gas the right gas
Or greasing the bearings in the head
The jets need cleaning. Big up from Scotland 👍
thank you Ppp from Scotland!
Adjust valves
It's most likely the muffler screen, my guys clean em a crap ton on these guys.
that's a good idea.
I haven’t used stihl I really only use redmax
nice choice.
Valve adjustment that's a two-cycle four-stroke
engine knocks
Valve lash
you got.
I'm guessing valve lash and spark aresta screen?
both will be checked and one will be right.

spark arrestor carb tune?
yes this one was a carb issue
It’s need the spark plugs changed, rotate the tires and change the oil to get it to run right….Am I right? …lol

Grease the shaft

Can you convert and edge to a weed eater
you would have to replace the shaft it has a bend , and of course the trimmer head and gearbox. you could be but the cost would be high.
valve adjustment?
