      Gold and silver is no longer a pawn shop, it is a specialty retail store they sell above retail and lowball on the buy. The "expert" gets a percentage of the total profit, so it benefits them to lowball, do you think those "experts" get paid every time they come down no they get a percentage of the profit...if it was a real "pawn shop" the owner wouldn't need experts. The people that go there with these rare items are not broke.

      Also, people don't realize how long it takes to find buyers for some of these items. That's why they lowball so much when it comes to some of these items, because it can take months to years to sell the items.

You are deciding yourself "I am to lazy to sell this myself so I'm gonna take the faster option".     In these situations I always wonder how much you can trust the appraiser. If he's been brought in by the prospective buyer, how do you know he's not going to undervalue it just for his friend's sake? Although I imagine those guys live or die by their reputations, so it's probably in their best interest not to do that.

    Some of you might wonder why the price of appraisal is always UNDER value. They don't drive in for nothing... They work with the pawn shop and purposefully under value the items and receive a fat commision check on the side.
    Remember also this is a show that was caught "fake selling" items to make them more interesting. Usually its the people that get overly aggressive and upset and decide NOT to sell items like Jimmy Hendrix 1st guitar.

    A pawn shop isn't in the business of paying top dollar for everything that comes in his store. His business is to give you a small percentage for your stuff, then a month later you buy it back with interest. If you don't want the stuff back, that's totally up to you. Remember, you are going to him, he isn't hounding you down

    There was a guy that brought in a ton of vintage Charizard PSA 10s. Rick lowballed the shit out if him. Rick missed out big time. Those Charizards went up 250% in value since that episode.

    I used to deal in books. So much goes into it. I have a collection of books that used to be worth a lot and currently almost worthless. In a few years it could be priceless. Hard to tell.
