That's how AFL is scored. A goal is when the ball is kicked between the two big posts and is worth 6 points. A behind is when the ball is either kicked between the big post and the small post or when it is not kicked through the big posts. . That is worth only one point. So an AFL score will show how many goals a team has kicked and how many behinds they have kicked for a combined score. So in the example 13 goals (worth 6 points each) and 12 behinds (worth one point each) combines to a score of 90. (13×6) +(12×1) =90 For Essendon 8 - 10 - 58 (8×6)+(10×1) = 58. I hope that's clear.

@@twentyrothmans7308 Funnily enough those are the scores at the end of the 1962 Grand Final except Essendon were 13-12-90 to Carlton 8-10-58.
