- Even Elon Musk is fed up with JK Rowling's hateful obsession with the trans community and asks her to stop posting so much insanity on his social media platform. John Iadarola and Viviana Vigil break it down on The Damage Report.

J.K. Rowling’s anti-trans obsession is so bad even Elon Musk is over it - www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-o...
"Many trans people were amused over the weekend when X owner Elon Musk suggested to author J.K. Rowling that she tweet about something other than trans people. “While I heartily agree with your points regarding sex/gender, may I suggest also interesting and positive content about other things?” Musk tweeted at Rowling on Saturday, prompting a massive swarm of virulent anti-trans responses.
Rowling isn’t the first person to turn their entire online presence into a factory for spreading their favorite vein of bigotry.
The confrontation, while humorous, highlights a common problem with online hate movements in the social media age. Rowling isn’t the first person to turn their entire online presence into a factory for spreading their favorite vein of bigotry. An even more egregious case is Irish writer Graham Linehan, who, after his outrageously provocative and hateful writings about trans people, now complains that his “gender critical activism” has cost him his family and career."

My first thought was "who gives a flying shit what Elon Musk thinks?"
My second thought was "who gives a flying shit what JK Rowling thinks?"
I agree totally! Who gives a .....what either of these hateful people think, IMO, it proves money does not make you happy or change your real self.
Exactly. I will say I was fan of elons I mean I wasn’t fanboy but thought he was this amazing genius mainly because how press portrays him. Then you find out the truth about him. I’ve never read Rowlings books or seen the movies I just know she sucks too.
Elon has thoughts? I assumed what came out of his mouth was the result of nano strokes.
Sadly, their wealth means we all have to to some extent.
She's such a disappointment.
With every tweet she sends, the shorter the first part of her obituary gets, and the longer the second part of her obituary gets.
Imagine obsessing about another person's junk when you have no sexual interest in them? Now THAT is bizarre.
Well.... lets not presume her sexual interest. 🤣
It is annoying that JK Rowling claims that the existence of trans women erases women when she herself is the one who:
• Used her initials JK to hide the fact that she is a woman. This erases women.
• Used the pen name Robert G. to hide the fact that she is a woman. This erases women.
• Wrote seven books of her most popular series centered on two male characters and only one female character-who spent most of one book unconscious in a hospital bed. Centering stories on male character and relegating females to merely supporting roles erases women.
She clearly has her own internalized misogyny to fix.
Not to mention that she is now buddying up with Matt Walsh.
We have some transphobes in our community, and the way their entire lives revolve around their bigotry is just incredible.
It's such a bizarre thing to get enraged about. It has NOTHING to do with us. Just let it go.
Elon didn't get upset about the transgender point, it was the racial and male point. I have a feeling Elon felt like he was attacked on that point.
I think Elon had a rare moment of clarity where he realized that his platform is not going to thrive if it's got nothing but nazis and bigots barely propping it up. As much as he loves that stuff, he wants advertiser money, and that's not going to happen when even his famous celebrity users are literally just posting transphobic nonsense non-stop.

Rowling isn’t Voldemort; she’s worse…she became a Dursley. Voldemort was evil, and immoral…craving power and immortality; the Dursleys were just ignorant and intolerant; dismissing and denigrating anything deemed not normal.
I recently re-read the Harry Potter books and was again so moved by the story and impressed by the writing she did. However, I wonder if she has read them in the past few years, because it’s really hard to reconcile that author with the current woman. The books were a celebration of the misfits, the marginalized and misunderstood. The protagonists loathed bullying and cruelty and stood up for acceptance. For a brilliant author, Rowling has clearly lost the plot.

Just another example of what extreme wealth does to people. When she was a penniless single mother, she had oodles of compassion. But now -- to fit in with the wealthy elite -- she has succumbed: she is slowly becoming the thing(s) that she once hated.
she already became, now is growing even more evil
J. K. Rowling seems genuinely mentally ill or maybe traumatized by something to be so obsessed. She could do so many other things, other than be a public voice of bigotry, yet this is her chosen role now? A weird mystery...
If I've got it right, she was sexually assaulted once, and she somehow got that incident mixed up with transgender people. She has stated more than once that she got started in on trans issues because of her concern with domestic violence. As if that makes any sense.
It wasn't a transperson who assaulted her, but it nonetheless seems that she views transpeople as a danger to women. In other words, she's a bit cracked.
I've always thought harry potter was pretty shit. Interestingly, the late conservative literary critic Harold Bloom agreed - he called it 'slop' and compared it negatively to great children's fiction like 'Charlotte's Web' and 'Wind in the Willows.' And how do you speak about chirality on X if you can't use the words 'cis' and 'trans.'
Honestly I think she rode the interest in fantasy and wizards and s*** in general that was kind of going on at the turn of the century to fame that she probably didn't really earn it's just that movie studios were looking to put more people in wizard hats and robes out there.
As people deconstruct her text more and more it seems like it's really just a cesspool of her bigotry and horrible ideas about human beings.
Yeah so I'm actually tired of the Rowling discourse because it drains my soul, why can we not talk about the other major fuckup of hers? That magic system! It is so.. Lazy and unimaginative, it doesn't leave room for creativity or for intersecting systems or anything.. Got a highly specific problem? JK somehow misses the whole point of Fantastic Beasts. An Obscurus is created when a young witch or wizard suppresses their innate magic, either through willpower as a result of violence or abuse, a powerful parasite could form within that child.
It's projection. Whenever someone constantly, overtly, expresses a certain feeling/pov towards anything, it means that it's on their mind all the time. You can't like something you hate. It's contradictory. For example: I think about fishing all the time, so I go fishing as often as I can. It's something I like to do and think about.. 6:15 She actually DOES fund help-programs for women who survived sexual assault, so that's that. Apart from that, as far as rest of this segment after this is concerned... you guys are missing the point (or, more likely, intentionally ignoring it to make your own). This doesn't have anything to do with women's sports, so why should she be funding it? And it doesn't come out of nowhere, either. For Rowling, talking about this whole sport-stuff is a means to an end and her end is the protection of women.
Rowling's point is that this whole trans-positivity will, in the end, lead to a normalization of people making it into certain spaces that have previously been exclusive to those of a specific sex that doesn't align with the biological sex of these people. Specifically: Biologically male people being allowed into women's changing rooms, showers, etc..
That fear of hers is legitimate, because the logical foundation of it - the assumption that "men" can more easily make it into women-only places as long as they identify as women - is true. Now, of course, for us here in the real world, there's not really anything to be actually afraid of, because the consequences of this ease of access that Rowling and people like her fear, which is the possibility of rapists pretending to be transgender to have easier access to new victims, is just fear-fiction released upon the world by some transphobic right-wing nutcases and it doesn't happen. Or at least not nearly often enough to really justify any of this overblown fear or for it to be statistically relative.
But there is an internal logic to her thought process. Not a good one, not one that holds up when faced with the real case numbers contradicting her fears, but in and off themselves, her statements make sense. And pretending that it doesn't just to justify ragging on her constantly doesn't help.
I honestly believe she means well, i honestly believe this is, at least to a very big part, about protecting women and safe-spaces for them, but as is often the case, her good intentions paved the proverbial way to (Twitter-)hell for her.
Which is why i, personally, don't hate her for her views on this. I just pity her and i think if only she would take some time away from the spotlight on social media and instead face those assumptions and fears she has rationally, maybe with help, she could turn it around.
"Biologically male people . . ."
Transgender women are not "biologically male" people. They are biologically transgender female. This is Rowling's main tactic for erasing transgender people, people she doesn't begin to understand.
"That fear of hers is legitimate, because the logical foundation of it - the assumption that "men" can more easily make it into women-only places as long as they identify as women - is true."
No, it isn't true. It's rubbish. Transgender woman are not MEN, and they are not men who "identify as women." Transgender women are transgender women. Maybe some day you'll figure that out. If so, see if you can explain it to Rowling.
