The first John Wick movie holds a valuable lesson some people need to learn. The most dangerous man in the world is the man who just wanted to be left alone.
It depends on where you stand in the capitalist society and bourgeois culture. Art is part of that culture and plays a function. You consume it and it shapes you.
I’m pretty sure he knew what John used to do and that he stopped so I’m guessing Jimmy knew that John wouldn’t start killing again unless there was a good reason, and someone killing your dog is a damn good reason
Greatest scene in the movie! There's an almost imperceptible tension in Jimmy's voice as he sees the body on the floor behind JW. And the thought of this master assassin being back in the game, is a little more than Jimmy really wants to deal with. The layers of goodness in this scene are truly incredible, because Jimmy obviously has some history with JW, or at least JW knows Jimmy knows, and all of that is spoken without dialogue! Excellent interaction between two very talented actors!
Not just that. To start, he turned on the police car lights and placed himself just in between, to let John know he's not a target. Then e remains calm, friendly, and once he looks slightly into the home, and sees the body at the end, first thing he does is taking his officer's cup off, and place it just in front of his body camera to avoid any further inconvenient. If you ask me, very clever this Jimmy hehehe.
Personally I think the scene with Francis outside the nightclub is slightly better than the "You workin' again?" scene with Jimmy. "Are you here on business, sir?", "Afraid so Francis.... why don't you take the night off?", "Thank you, sir". It shows that these 2 men also have history and that John repects him sufficently highly, that he offers him the chance to walk away and not be involved, rather than killing him in the same way as he does all the rest of Iosefs' bodyguards, and that Francis has the smarts to take that chance and leave.
@@jcorbett9620 i was going to mention that scene it was epic knowing he can't do anything to stop him and all he can do take the chance to get as far as he can LOL
The scene with the cop....Jimmy knows that there are men dead inside the house but casually leaves because he is talking to the man who fucking killed the Bogeyman
John Wick is The Black Snakehead fish that swims through out the rivers of death, violence and destruction. Tearing his enemies to pieces and striking fear into the hearts of those who would dare to stand against him.
Smart move Jimmy. I imagine him getting back on the car and just passing a radio to the precint “hey, ignore this place and send someone tomorrow. Also, strike it off the records. Jhon is sorting some stuff up in here.”
This in my opinion is the most badass introduction to a character ever. I mean which other movie will give you the most accurate gateway into the sheer skill and ruthlessness of a character. Very well written intro.
i don't know whats more terrifying John wicks calm demeanor, or the actor "who is Hollywood's nicest guy" playing a character who is so damn pissed off, and wants to kill everyone
I love how if you heard this man talking about John you’d think he’s being a tad bit over dramatic without context as to who the hell john wick is. He did not lie, he wasn’t being dramatic. John wick is just as if not More dangerous than what he described.
Corvus Glaive to thanos "hey thanos John wick survived the click" Thanos.........yeah and Corvus Glaive replies "his dog didn't" Thanos........oh !!!!!!!
The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of "Men who wanted to be left Alone". They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the "Men who wanted to be left Alone" are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. . . . Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these "Men who wanted to be left Alone", fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy . . . . but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the "Men who just wanted to be left alone."
Imagine a movie. where all the Hollywood badass protagonists, came together against all the badass antagonists. From John Mc Claine, to Denzel (Equalizer), add some more here, all the way to John Wick? Now that'd be something.
He's my idol , started in the movie "speed" with Sandra Bullock..up to now . I'm his fan. He's really a great actor. My dream to be his friend on Hangouts. How I wish.. Who knows one of this day we're chatting.
The single point of the movie is everyone & their brother knows who JW is Viggo's lack of foresight in telling his son of the W.M.D. in his own backyard is what could have averted this debacle
If you have ever watched Mr. Reeves shooting/fighting for REAL, you would understand what a complete badass he is in REAL life! Granted; Some of these scenes may be a "little" over the top, but not totally impossible for a guy like him. I have a hell of a lot more respect for him since the Bill n Ted, and *dude* movies. He was "most excellent" when he starred with Steve Martin, and got to show off his acting chops with his dialog about parenting. I look forward to seeing him do more serious work (like Tom Cruise) in the future!
Only thing in Jimmy's mind when the noise complaint comes in for John's house "welp f$ck John's working again.." I love how he takes his hat off first, makes me think he's gonna run.
This movie was many wonderful things, but a lesson in Russian it was not. They're not calling him Baba Yaga, the word is Babayka, which does mean Boogeyman, unlike Baba Yaga, who is a different folkloric figure entirely
People have wondered how Iosef didn't recognize John Wick. I think it might be because he was living in Russia, growing up there. But John knew Iosef because he would've seen photos of him at the home/office of Tarasov. 🤔
