Well done. Maybe the error you made in measurement was an advantage anyhow, it looked as though you just removed the scoring in the cylinder with the extra cut. All is okay if you can get a piston the correct size to fit. Cheers Peter
Misstakes are always annoying because they are potentially going to wreck the job. But in this case id have to agree, those extra 100s cleaned it up better. Turned out a piston for 50.36 cylinder size was hard to find so what i did was to hone the cylinder up by 4/100s and now its on 50.40 with a total variations in the bore of not more than 0.005mm so its pretty much perfect. A 50.30 piston is in the mail as we speak.
Brilliant video mate, so good to se people thinking out of the box and having a go. Great stuff!
Very genius machinist...
Would a tool post grinder have less flex ?

A great video!
Thanks!
Very interesting crosslide.
Thanks for sharing.
Motoplat ignition!
I've been a machinist 35 yrs. If you're not making mistakes (aka learning), you're not working.
Probably not doing it to make money. Probably sick of sending things out and waiting 2 weeks to get it back.
How in the hell can you make money doing it that way. And keep the price competitive? That's why they make machines for this purpose. Hum dums
