oh that's why i dislike PTD then
Can't stand K-pop! I mean its not just that I prefer my music in English! But why listen to a Korean version of what we already have in the west? I mean that's basically what's happening! Koreans doing western pop! It sounds worse with heavy auto tune and weird computer effects! The Korean pop artist are too flashy and there dancing is too cringy! I heard one of these K pop bands were compared to the Beatles! If that's true then that's an insult too the Beatles!
I'm sorry to say this but the world doesn't revolve around west. To me both k-pop and western pop are foreign so I listen to whichever song I like language doesn't matter . If I want to know the meaning I just search it up. You are entitled to your opinion though.
@@jiyayadav5928 yeah, I'm just saying its not for me!
I feel sorry for you limiting yourself to such a small portion of the music in the world. Can you also not stand the Beatles "Sie Liebt Dich" & "Komm gib mir diene Hand", and the music of Ravi Shankar? There are several English speaking artists with songs containing Korean lyrics: Juice WRLD, MAX, Halsey, Coldplay.
Not all Korean music is the same as what you hear in the west. I'm mostly familiar with BTS and their discography contains many song concepts that you don't often hear in english songs from the west. Songs criticising the school system that makes kids become "studying machines" and give up their dreams to fit in with the expectations of society; several songs criticising the baby boomer generation for creating a society where it is hard for the younger generation to get ahead then the boomers criticising them for not working hard enough; songs addressing metal illness and depression; a song about adolescents encountering temptation inspired by the book 'Demian' by Hermann Hesse; two albums following the themes of Jungian psychology; an album exploring their feelings during the Covid pandemic; songs encouraging people to love themselves as they are not change themselves just to please another person.
The lyrics deal with topics you don't hear in western bubblegum pop songs which are often about romantic love, and the music is a bop too.
@@julieharris4700 I only listen to oldies and classic rock! But I don't think we should just keep pointing the finger at previous generations for there short comings and mistakes! We should try to focus more on the problems at hand instead of finding people to blame! (No offense!). I only listen to oldies because modern music first off doesn't relate to me on any level. But I just don't think modern pop musicians especially these Korean artist can match the classics. They can't, Not on any level whether that's having unique vocals, playing instruments and most importantly, song writing! These modern pop artist overly saturate there music with noises that are made on computers and they overuse auto tune! Especially these K pop groups! I just like my music genuine and natural with live instruments and real vocals! I don't mean any offense, this is just my perspective!
@@thebeatleshelp5834 I might like some classic rock but my tastes are a bit more eclectic. When I was younger: Beatles, Supertramp, then Bob Marley, Leonard Cohen, Laurie Anderson, Billy Bragg, Tim Minchin, Crowded House, Flight of the Concordes. I hated rap until I discovered BTS.
In terms of song writing BTS write over 90% of their lyrics and produce a lot of their songs. They write lyrics with complex wordplay and metaphors in several languages in one song.
Member Suga learned piano as a child but whereas western groups play instruments when they perform, K-pop groups dance. For their over 2 hour shows they sing live with a live band while dancing complex precision choreography (member Jimin is a trained contemporary dancer). In vlogs you will often see member Jungkook sing a capella.
It's ok if you don't like the sound of the K-pop you have heard (I hate most country and heavy metal), but I don't think you should generalise the music from a country as all sounding the same. Also a reason for dismissing something should not be that it's not in English. If you feel this way you probably shouldn't have watched a video titled "Top 10 Artists You Didn't Know Wrote K-Pop Songs".
