  • Was near Jacksonville Fl and decided to head to Hilliard to catch some high speed CSX action and it did not disappoint. There was a variety of everything at high speeds. Fast manifests, intermodals, Amtraks, and coal trains make up this video. The highlight being the 12 locomotive manifest featuring a NS leader and a CSX SD70mac

    Some serious video. Definitely the need for speed was fulfilled. It's a wonder that the vacuum created didn't absorb you into the train.

    Excellent good video, mr Carter's Caboose.
    I have seen many video's from trainspotters in America ( U.S.A. ) including you but a freightrain with 12 dieselbeasts including a NS on the front and a BNSF in the middle. Nice shot Maestro 👌👍.

    • @johnrottler4000
      @johnrottler4000 2 года назад +9

      I would say about average sized honestly
      The BNSF does this where I live sometimes I’ll see trains with up to 6-7-8 or more engines leading them but a lot of times they are just be transported either to a different rail yard for other duties or Locomotive shop for maintenance or for rebuilding or something like that

      @@johnrottler4000 That sort of setup is known as a "Power Move" and that's exactly the purpose. Moving locomotives from one place to another for whatever reason.

      Rail roads can move Move many locomotives at one time. But can only have 36 working, or powered axles at a time. So out of the12 locomotives only 6 we’re generating power.

    Almost all 12 locomotives were AC powered, but the Dash 8s and 9s weren't AC. (AC means that theres a bolt on the CSX locomotives, besides others but still uses AC power from ES44AC-H, ET44AC, AC44C6M, AC44CW, AC44CWM, SD70ACC, SD70ACE, SD70IAC, SD70ACU, and SD70MAC)

      Joe Momma it means the engineer has to bring the train to a complete stop! It’s basically the same thing as a traffic light. Stop at red, and go at green.
