I just adopted a 2 year old ackie about 5 days ago. She has been very active, great with eating, and suddenly 2 days ago she has been hiding in her enclosure. Im assuming this is normal? Since it is a new environment
7-8 Layers of a water-based polyurethane. Wood touching the substrate is lined with plexi-glass. Check out: ruclips.net/video/UoIZQhL5xSc/видео.html and some of the comments. Very helpful stuff
Hi there I just purchased a nile monitor 4 days ago but he is not eating the 1st day i just put him in a small plastic enclosure so he could chill the i put him in a big plastic enclose of around 55in long 20 wide and tall he is around 18in from head to tail 2nd day he ate 1 mice but since refuses to eat i tried fish, shrimp, chicken, and live mice again but nothing he has very good heat and Im waiting on his new enclosure it will be 2 meters long 1 meter wide and tall its coming by tomorrow or sunday. If you have any tips about what I could do it would be awesome thanks before hand
I cannot really assist. Not knowledgeable on Niles. I will say that this is no unheard of from a reptile in a new environment. Niles can get pretty freaked out too. I would have minimal contact with the Nile for a few weeks. Only interact when necessary. Let him/her settle and keep offering food.
Missed a golden oppurtunity for ACKFAQ or FAQIE
Great video 👍
Definitely going to look into ackies once I'm done upgrading my current reptiles enclosures.
Should’ve called this video “Ackie F.A.Q.-ie”.
hahahaha
Awesome vid professor 👍🏻
Good video. Glad to see they are doing well in cohab.

I would say that is perfectly normal!
Good info thanks for this!
Do you treat the wood on the inside of cages with anything to keep it from rotting or getting mold on it from the humidity and substrate. Thanks

I’m thinking of buying an Ackie and I was wondering if a 120x62.5x127cm Vivarium would be ok
is that lxwxh?
Yes
@@nathanbowen6744 I would do no less than 152.4x76.2x91.44cm (5'x2.5'x3')
I wish i could buy those bulbs, i can't get them in Colorado at all. Only can buy reptile specific lights and its expensive.
Order online.
Yep! As Toby said, online works!

What brand are you basking light fixtures?
ruclips.net/video/K3jK5Gj5sXY/видео.html
Instead of replacing the bulbs with lower wattage why not use a dimmer ????
the fixtures I use do not work with a dimmer. Definitely an option though!
No UV Lighting?
Not in my top 3 most asked no. Maybe in a part 2 of this video!
