- I stayed at the worst rated 1 star hostel in Egypt and didn't know what I was getting myself into..
I was harassed and followed to the hotel (and caught it all on camera)
The 5 star hotel was SO expensive but the experience was INSANE.. best vs worst reviewed hotel

if they are together on their own and in an area like this I feel like even though they are only friends they should wear something like a wedding band as obviously in many places public affection is not allowed (or if it just do something like holds hands, although it wouldn’t stop it, it would minimise it), or wearing more full coverage clothing, like a scarf - especially since millie has blonde hair and blue eyes, so is considered an exceptional beauty standard, particularly, when people that look like her are not seen as often as people that look like me (more tanned, brown hair, brown eyes etc.)
edit: obviously it is the mens fault for being disgusting individuals and not their responsibilities for other actions but I do worry about their safety sometimes because of the situations they put themselves in :(
If carmie said he wasn't staying those men knew you would be in that room alone ? and then asked are you coming back ? all sounds very dangerous thank god yous didn't stay

Those guys in the alley would have freaked me out!! Egyptians are very friendly (maybe to friendly at times) I remember 1st time me and my hubby went to this shop and they locked us in and brought us tea etc we thought we'd never see the light of day again, and because we didn't buy anything they sent us out the back door down the alleyway, where my hubby was offered 4 camels for me 😂😂, 2nd time we went we got locked in a perfume shop and the guy closed all the blinds 😮. They love females with blonde hair, so that's prob why they were giving you so much attention but it's so scary!!

Haha, similar thing happened to me but I was let out the front and was asked how much camels for the 2 women I was with I started at 1,000 and up to a million, lol. I was just messing with them though

Sometimes with hotels if you’re staying for long period of times they will work out a different price more like a rental so they’ll charge weekly/monthly ect you just have to negotiate and they usually do it cheaper not the per/night price
We’ve stayed in a villa for 6 weeks and instead of the $250 per night they did it at $1250 a week as we were staying longer

Literally it all depends on where you go in Egypt some parts are rough and you shouldn’t be walking alone others you can do whatever you want. Also if you are gonna dress revealing (which may be normal to you) over there you will get hit on by all the guys since they barely see women dress that way there to begin with.

I went to egypt when I was 14/15 with my boyfriend at the time and his family, we stayed at a 5 star hotel in sharm el sheikh which was incredible but even there the men were so so seedy and one particular one followed me around and kept asking me to marry him and sleep with him. Bare in mind he knew I was a child. You would of got a lot more attention being blonde too, its such a shame because it makes people want to avoid going to places like Egypt/Tunisia etc because of the safety aspect! Not good for tourism there.

I have been to Egypt 5 times but feel like I would never go back without my family or a male, the men there are very intimidating, I have very fair skin. There’s some wild stories too but the hotels there are beautiful! You can definitely get better deals for nicer and bigger hotel for a lot cheaper they’re just in the middle of nowhere! Defo a beautiful place to visit though, the men are just over friendly and need to be cautious when out and about

That’s so pants about the TV - and it’s nothing about “being classy”… I stay at Nobu which is £350 more expensive per night than this place and I can connect my phone to the TV there.

I am egyptian and i know that we have a problem with catcalling, but some of those whistles and calls may had been just to catch your attention and say something nice, we egyptians sometimes think that telling tourists they look good or nice will make them happy

I’ve been to Cairo and stayed in hostels there and all across the world. £13 is expensive for a hostel, go to india they’re like £4 a night. You’re being dramatic haha they just never see blonde girls but they’re not going to harm you 😅
