BIG THANK YOU - I traded my 24 1.5t accord for the 2.0L 24 civic
Although it's under powered, I bought it for reliability
Absolutely the better powertrain for reliability.
Did you have issues with the 1.5t?
The 1.5L is dead reliable I have a 2016 with 194,000 miles beaten to death lives in the heat of Texas and does not give a fuck about weather, good gas or bad gas the engine is definitely typical Honda as it gets older (mine started at 170,000) it will drink a little oil.
@@nooneproductions27 the k series are so superior it’s not close when it comes to reliability
A guy who owns 2022 Honda civic has the 1.5 and has put over 250k miles on it, so the 1.5 isn't as unreliable as people claim it to be, people just don't give it a chance and bash it because they hear a small percentage of people who have had issues.
Every time I feel like oh gee maybe my 2.0 L K20c2 2023 Civic could use more power, I just remember how consistent and reliable the engine has been and will last for years to come!
@@walpoleandworcester exactly.
So glad I got a Civic with a k20c2 in May right before they stopped making them. Got lucky.
💯
I lucked out as well, when I found one of the last of the 2024 Civic Sports at my local dealership. This engine is even better than I could have imagined.
@@crockettheipel8129 👏
@@crockettheipel8129 nice man
@@crockettheipel8129 Definitely a fun, rev happy engine. Even though it has a conventional rpm range, it reminds me of a B16A which was a pleasant surprise.
Direct injection and the Atkinson cycle allow for cleaner more complete burns. An over square engine allows for more torque at a lower rpm and there isn't a VTEC switchover. Looks like a compliance engine to keep up with EPA smog ratings. Some story as the Pilot's 3.5L V6.
@@avery4528 💯
Are you referring to the DOHC V6 Honda started producing in the 2023 Pilots? That engine is why I don’t want a Pilot. The Passports still have the VTEC engine with a 9at. Do you think those will be more reliable?
@@cathyg1099 my only concern long term is the vtc gears potentially being a leaking point.
I own the 2024 SI
With 7000 miles, no issues. I only put in premium gas and always make sure to warm up the car b4 moving
@@ErrydayYe 🙌
I recently just replaced fuel injectors on a brand new 24 CR-V Hybrid with only 200 miles on it due to misfiring. It failed the A/F test when I was diagnosing it. Not an easy job at all. A few members of the Honda TechLine forum also discussed issues with the fuel injectors on the current generation CR-V Hybrid as well. Luckily, at least in California where I live, the injectors are covered under the emissions warranty which is 10 years/150K miles.
@@donaldwilson2620 yes we have done both the Crv and accord hybrids. Found a few misting while engine off.
I’m so glad and happy with my 2023 Civic Sport Sedan and 2024 CRV Hybrid Sport. Excellent car and reliable. Not looking for sport car, but reliable and economic car.
@@bezerramus best of luck!
I’ve got a 1.5t civic with 120,000 on it and haven’t had any issues with the engine yet. I’ve also had it modded since 75,000. Not once have I had a check engine light or any leaks, seriously no issues at all. It’s amazing what basic maintenance can do for a cars engine.
@@Whitey73192 appreciate the feedback
@@Whitey73192 hell yeah. I got the 2024 SI, 7000 miles no issues. Put premium gas and always make sure car is warmed up b4 shutting it down or driving.
@@ErrydayYe yeah I think the premium has really helps. And especially in the winter letting it warm up and cool down helps the turbo big time
My touring has 190,000 miles no issues drinks a little oil but is fine no turbo issues or major mechanical failures. I genuinely can’t speak highly enough about this engine. I bought it at 19 and thought it was the fastest rocket on the planet the car got its shit kicked in for 2-3 years the CVT is my main concern at this high of mileage I can’t see it making it to 250,000
Car is a 2016 civic touring daily driven with sub par maintenance just being honest
Thanks for the updates! Very informative! Straight to the point!

I'm glad I have my 2017 Civic LX with the K20 🙏🏽 and If I gotta trade it, I'll get a newer gen with the same engine 👍🏽 We don't fw turbos 👎🏽
@@mclovin6629 luckily turbos are disappearing for most Civic’s
Honda should develop a dual fuel system like Toyota's D4S.
💯 they can easily do it but are avoiding it for some reason.
Honestly Honda is behind on that and it’s almost shocking they have not implemented it yet. Maybe to not be seen as copying Toyota? Lol it honestly just makes sense to do. Still have the best of both. If their next gen I4 cylinder engines don’t have it then it will never come imo
@@theholt2ic219 agreed
Thanks for that. C9 sounds like a completely different engine top and bottom. A bit misleading that Honda still calls it a K series
@@stevenr1354 my thoughts exactly
Any C lines of the K20 should have been something like M20 or N20. They really have no good reason to slap the K badge on it besides marketing
@@lol_russ 💯
They literally are destroying the legendary reputation that the k series had.
@@FMB123 yeah I think they should have used a different engine code 💯

@@cbsvth22 👏 an engine is only as reliable as its maintenance 💯
So should I buy my lease out 22 civic sport love the vids bro here for the support my guy !!!💯
Yes I would
It almost feels like Honda is a bit lagging behind in their engine development cycle.
K series are getting old and don’t meet emission nowadays; J series even older; L15B/C had good promise but now suffer the head gasket issue.
I don’t know where they are putting the money on…
@@bikingmoments for sure, there have been many different variations of both those engine families and this new “k”20c9 is way more comparable to its 2.0 LFC3 then any actual other K
I have a 2016 Civic Touring and a 2024 Honda HRV Sport. My 1.5L touring has had the Air conditioner recalled twice, currently waiting for my second replacement. 123,000k KM no other real issues. I've treated her well and the last few years I've used 93 premium.
I do however love my k20 HRV , not much power but the AWD is a pleasure in the Alberta Canada winter.
I almost traded the civic in for a 24 civic 158hp but backed out.
Hopefully i don't regret it.
@@user-wi8wz4mh9g thanks for sharing and best of luck.
Are you only seeing misfire codes with the injector failures or are you also getting p0172 as well?
Also praying they don’t change the HRV 2.0L. Planning on replacing both of my civics here over the next 1-2 years and don’t want direct injection
@@jasonlecreux1175 for which engines? The hybrid ones have been misfires across the board I believe. All others p0172 and other fuel codes. Cylinder variation codes I believe, don’t quote me on this exact words lol
What’s your thoughts on Honda’s previous hybrid engine from the 2014-2015 Accord hybrid, 2017-2022 Accord hybrid, and 2020-2022 CRV hybrid?
I’ve seen plenty well over 200k, also some reports of blown head gaskets although more acceptable mileage vs the 1.5t average we see.
I'm really curious to see if someone figures out how to flash the computers in the Civic Hybrid to match the output in the Accord
This morning I heard that Gr86 will also drop their boxer engine and maybe go with something smaller like 1.5turbo just like the civic si.
@@tonkeo9005 😮
Does the C9 at least have exhaust VTEC?
No
What sucks is they dropped the manuals unless you get an SI

I think I know what they did. My guess is that they got rid of the C2 to cut costs? The same C9 with a hybrid and non hybrid set up if I am following correctly. It is also more “fuel efficient” which made no sense to keep the C2 around. That being said the c2 is an 8 year old engine but why couldn’t they just added upgrades to it without DI and used it with the hybrid system as well??? Did the new cr-v hybrid go away from port injection?
Yes, it’s direct injection now
Would hope that a hybrid should allow you to fuel up half as often. But shrinking the hybrid's tank by 2 gal results in a similar range gas vs hybrid.
If leave 2.5 gal reserve: Gas 34mpg&10gal=340mi. Hybrid 47mpgx8gal=376mi
@@bigcrowfly yeah I wish the tank stayed the same size honestly.
They have to put the battery somewhere... It's also not going to be that close in range in reality.
Wouldn't 1933cc make it a 1.9l engine instead of 2.0l? Honda, what are you even doing man 😂.
D17 aside, it's sucks seeing the Civic went from the compact car with the more decent engine options to what it is now, they just feel like cheap and easy ways to please the EPA and Euro regulations. Also, just from personal experience, longer stroke engines usually don't feel as smooth as a comparable shoter stroke engine.

@@EchoAccord all I’m saying is there’s a lot of bad apples. I’ve done well over 50 head gaskets. That’s an extremely high fail rate. That’s not being narrow minded, that’s having facts and prof that the engine is sub par in comparison to the rest of Hondas engines.
