I like most of your blind commentaries but I don't like the fact that you think anything negative towards Rarity is wrong but when something of the same degree is directed towards the other characters it's fine. Don't get me wrong, Rarity is my second favourite next to AJ but sometimes, like the other characters, she does the wrong thing and it's fine to call her out on it. She is a good character because she is flawed. That's one of the reason I love the show. No one is perfect and treating a character like they are is a disservice to that character and the people who created her.
Don't take the bonus round of lies too seriously, the bonus rounds in cinema sins type videos are mostly for fun.
Something that happens a lot sometimes gets a bonus counter, and it doesn't always relate to something bad (Halloween got a counter for all the pumpkins that appeared on screen).
I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he counted the lies for the fun of counting them.

Sometimes it probably hurts my preconceptions about this series that I've only seen like three episodes of the actual Cinema Sins.

The thing with cinema sins and cinemare sins is if you go in taking everything seriously, you won't enjoy it very much and will find his points invalid. This show and its inspiration, cinema sins, provide things like animation errors and logical problems, but they also throw in personal opinions or observations as jokes. That's the point. Fun fact, one of the movies cinema sins did is their all time favorite. I forget which one, look up everything wrong with cinema sins.
uug. rarity dash, you make a compelling argument about the ruby, but i think your putting rarity on to high of a pedestal because shes your favorite. yes she is prepared to let it go, but honestly she was defiantly talking and acting in such a tone that it would be almost impossible impossible for spike to decline. in that case rarity probably inst that surprised even tho she may look surprised. she knew she would get him to give it to her. but i know she would let if go if she needed to. she is my 2nd fave pony.

It is a parody. Of CinemaSins no less. It is meant for comedy and over-the-top nitpicking. Of course there are going to be parts which are inconsistent and parts which are overly critical. That's the joke.
You're basically upset that these videos were doing exactly what they were intended to do.
+WarCollider Nitpicking is fine. where it bugs me is in the stuff that comes down to subjective judgement. Counting something as a sin when there is another opinion that can be taken to justify it is just grating.
No, I mean you seem to be missing the biggest point behind EWW. Granted, you aren't actually familiar with CinemaSins so it's understandable, but the biggest point behind these videos is that the sins are completely, and utterly meaningless.
It's nothing more than a joke with the sins meant to be overly critical and judgmental when they aren't simply ridiculous. Heck, in the episode with Zecora one of the sins is nothing more than the background music making a noise that sounds like the *ding* when a sin is counted.
Heck, he'd be perfectly justified to go, "I haven't added a sin in the past three seconds, so here's another sin for no good reason."
Sorry for the long comments, but I think I'm just annoyed from all the comments I've seen on both his videos and (more commonly) CinemaSins videos left by people who refuse to believe that the EWW series is *not*, in fact, meant to be legitimate criticism.
RarityDash To give a better example in regards to how the sins work, he could easily go, "Wow, I really hate Rarity, so here's a thousand sins for her showing up on screen for two seconds." Is it fair? Does it make sense? Nope, because it's not meant to.

Man, you really see how divided this fandom actually is when you read the comments. So many "why does everyone hate (insert character here)" and "why don't more people like (insert episode here)" comments not just on this video, but many others. It really goes to show how separated we actually are over the internet, with so many groups having all these different opinions.

Joe Habana They all have no flaws and they are all loved by everyone in the show. On top of that, Owlowiscious has taken on a dragon, Flash is a love interest for the main character, and Twist has a lisp that multiplies her cuteness factor by a lot (with her dialogue and personality, that's overkill). They're so perfect, they're annoying. Is that not incriminating enough?
I still like the Mare Do Well episode over all of the Spike episodes
It shows why Derpy was small in one of the Doctor Whooves and Assisstance episode. So it's actually kinda understandable. If you were wondering. ; )

Even if rarity didn't manipulate spike into giving her the ruby she still shouldn't have taken it after spike offered it to her, she should have refused no matter what as it was spikes birthday.
If one of my friends bought themselves a PS4 for their birthday I might say "wow, I wish I had one" but I wouldn't take it from them if they said "here you have it". I would refuse no matter how much I wanted one.
jk844100 Well, to Spike it's food, and food he's indulging himself on at that. it's not something he's really going to miss very much when it's gone as he doesn't appreciate it in the same way Rarity will.
Also, Rarity doesn't say she wishes she had one or anything to that effect, only that she finds it beautiful and hopes Spike enjoys it. Spike is the one who decides it is "meant to be with" her.
RarityDash you missed the point, is spikes birthday present to himself, a real friend doesn't take gifts from the birthday boy/girl. Rarity should have said no.

With how Spike phrases what he's decided though, I think at that point he probably would have insisted she take it, even if she refused. He has reasoned in his head that the gem is meant to be with Rarity, which I don't see him going back on at that point, even if she tries to deny she wants it--she too obviously does profoundly want it for that to work.

The sins mean nothing, litterally, if you watched the originals, a.k.a cinema sins, they themselfs say that the sins mean nothing and if they did have a purpose or meaning it would take away from the meaning of the video, so litterally everything is meant for entertainment and good fun, so there is no point in being frustrated over what should or shouldn't be a sin because they mean nothing, if you cant take my word for it, just watch cinema sins 'every thing wrong with cinema sins' video on the cinema sins channel, and cinemare sins is a parody of cinema sins so the same rules apply. Also cinema sins has little jokes they made up like 'this scene does not contain a lapdance' and other jokes which also just makes the sins and sin total just for fun. Great reaction!
TheCoolguy3622 I think I'm getting that now. A big part of the problem probably is that I've seen like only maybe three episodes of the actual Cinema Sins. The format is still new to me which I'm sure has me looking at some things wrong.

MrTaylordw Mapper Earth Ponies in general are underrated, but yes, Apple Jack is not a bad character and nowhere near an ok character, she has a lot of great moments.

Character flaws aren't what i'd have thought would count for sins though...but now I'm learning it's more just whatever he wants to count which qualifies. :/
RarityDash To be fair, that is what cinemasins does. Something goes against his logic he counts it, so in that regard he is close to his source material.

22:26 RD... There are... 3 kinds of people... when it comes to this topic...
There are people who look at it at face value and say Rarity was swindling him (Littleshy)
There are people who look at the facts and say Rarity was just admiring the jewel (You)
And there are people who look at ALL the facts, even the seemingly irrelevant ones (Me)
Do you know where that last category ends up? With most topics, it ends up in the same place as those who look at some of the facts. However, sometimes it does a complete 180... For example, Mare Do Well. I found the little hidden things like the fact that the Mane 6 avoided eye contact with Rainbow and Pinkie's major lack of involvement in most of the episode, and that went somewhere bigger (It is now my second favorite episode of MLP to date). Here... it also does a 180... It's true, there seems to be genuine surprise, but the lack of hesitance breaks the idea that she wasn't expecting it. Even though Narrator gave me an explanation for this (and it's a pretty good one, too), there's still a problem. The animation with Rarity can ONLY suggest she was expecting it from him. Even the more subtle things like Rarity just standing around looking cute in the background. This implies she's waiting for something to happen. I'm usually willing to dismiss these judgments, but only if something positive is _possible_ to come out of it. I see no reason for Rarity to be standing around like that. She had her book, she already made it quite clear that she liked the gem, and she had no other reason to stay (She also left without the book, and I'm not sure at all what to think of that). Not only that, but this book provides a motive for her to GET OUT OF THERE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. "I have a feeling ruffled taffeta capes are going to make a HUGE comeback this season, and I want to be ahead of the game..." You want to be ahead of the game, huh? So why don't you... I don't know... go work on them! You've got the book, so what are you standing around for? On top of that, this standing around lasts 10 seconds at LEAST, so I don't know how that could imply anything else... That small detail (to my knowledge) contradicts every argument saying Rarity is blameless. As much as we'd like to pretend it, no character is perfect, and Rarity is no exception. That being said, I actually really like Rarity. She's an interesting character to say the least and she's the only one of the Mane 6 who have never had a bad episode... well, I mean, there's never been a bad Rarity-centric episode, whereas Flutters had Putting Your Hoof Down, Twi had Boast Busters, AJ had The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, Dash had Rainbow Falls, and Pinkie had Feeling Pinkie Keen. Rarity hasn't had one of these yet (of course, we've only had 6 Rarity-centric episodes thus far). She's had off days like Look Before You Sleep, Sonic Rainboom or Secret of My Excess, but that's beside the point. The point is, she's a great character and I hate to see episodes like this paint her in a negative light. Unfortunately though, it happens.
ShTHfan 1 If anything, Rarity could be said perhaps to maybe expect it to some degree once Spike asks his whole "You really like it, huh?" question, but I really find it hard to believe she's expecting to get it before that point.
The idea that she stays in the library somehow proves she's up to anything falls entirely flat to me. There's no indication she is in any kind of hurry; she is shown to start reading the book there in the library, probably wanting to make sure it will help her before leaving with it, but then she gets distracted when she starts thinking of the gem again. She is at this point troubled by the idea it will be eaten, but she still tells him she hopes he will find it tasty.
If at that point Spike had reacted differently, Rarity would have resigned herself to just move on, but instead he prompts her and then she gets even more excited which causes Spike to weigh the facts and see that in Rarity's hands the gem will be better cherished.
Though with the exception of Boast Busters, I wouldn't agree that any of those other episodes you name are bad, so we just might not agree on this.

You make a valid point on this, but like I said, she's just standing around. Basically, she's doing nothing. I'd think she'd notice if she was doing nothing. She may not have been in a hurry, but she shouldn't just be standing around like that.
That is a "What if" scenario. Those are unpredictable. For all we know, given that potential scene alone, it could have turned into that one episode of SpongeBob where Patrick had the Secret Box. In case you haven't seen that one, basically Rarity could become jealous, sleepless even, all over that gem (not saying that would be a bad idea, but it's a place it could have gone if Spike reacted differently). I'm aware we've already had an episode highlighting the problem of jealousy, heck, with the same character, but the motive is a lot worse in this one. Rather than it be everything she ever wanted in life, it's a friend's birthday gift to himself, and he made it pretty clear that it was for him, and Rarity obviously knows about this gem, and from the way both her and Spike speak about it, it's pretty rare.
"Bad" is a loose interpretation... PYHD was unpleasant, FPK was poorly written and worded (you know the whole controversy around that episode, right? But the reason I chose that one is because there's another one I find worse that people would probably yell at me for, so I decided to leave it confidential), SSCS6K had tons of cruel humor and stupid decisions, and RF was... objectively bad... horrible even... I don't see how you don't find any fault with it (most have called it worse than Mare Do Well, some have called it the worst of the show), but like I said, it's beside the point. And you're right, we probably won't agree on this anyway.
Now, we could go on for a while about this and start an argument that we probably wouldn't want to get into. It'd be best to just drop it now.
ShTHfan 1 She's not standing around doing nothing though. She is shown glancing through the book Twilight gave her, likely wanting to get a sense of it before she leaves. She only stops doing this when her thoughts distract her from it. Perhaps she brings the gem up again hoping Spike might consider giving it to her, but she is not expecting it at that point, and I really do think she is prepared for the case that he does not. I cannot see Rarity being drive to extreme jealousy over that kind of thing either.
And as far as I'm concerned, PYHD is the second best episode Fluttershy has ever had, far too much is made out of the stuff with FPK for what it is, SSCS6K has some logical inconsistencies but is hardly brought down by them, and as for RF... the premise is entirely forced in a way that is distracting, but the conflict makes sense and it has a pretty strong third act.

She looked through the book, then complimented Spike's gem, then stood around for a full 10 seconds while Spike contemplated giving it up. Then he did. And looking back, yes I _did_ say she was expecting it. That wasn't entirely true. She desired it greatly and did not want to let it out of her sight. This is _incredibly_ apparent through these two frames: img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111213115614/mlp/images/0/01/Rarity_oh_nooo_S2E10.png and img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111213115814/mlp/images/e/e9/Rarity_worried_S2E10.png. And we can't really confirm if she was prepared for him to say no. But come on... did you not see her fangirling over that gem? Maybe she wouldn't be driven to _extreme_ jealousy, but she was already jealous. Her jealousy is what led to this whole argument. It actually shows continuity to Green Isn't Your Color since she admits it upfront. But yeah, she was kind of jealous of Spike's fire ruby.
As for the episodes, I think we should stop there, because from here on out, it's all opinion-based (although I cannot disagree with your arguments about RF).
ShTHfan 1 Oh, after she's already complimented the gem? Well... yeah... she's spoken to him at that point, of course she's going to wait and see how he responds. You can't expect her to just talk to him there and then go back to reading or leave before he even fully reacts.
I said twice now she definitely desired it. This was abundantly clear to everyone, Spike included and I am in no way denying that. I would even disagree that it verges into jealousy. My only point is she is not deliberately manipulating or taking advantage of him to a real extent. She doesn't know for sure what Spike will do. She just can't help but show she wants it, but the choice to give it to her is one that Spike lands on himself when he considers things out fully.

Leme Leyo Rarity is my least favorite member of the mane 6, and is arguably one of my 15 least favorite characters on the show. However, I don't hate her, or even dislike her.
I just can't relate to her at all, and something about her personality rubs me the wrong way.

Yes. That's always been my main issue with these as well and why i'm generally not a fan of them. I try to sometimes enjoy these as mere entertainment, but I end up gritting my teeth through a large amount of these anyway. And just saying "it's meant to be a parody" doesn't discount the fact that they can get VERY annoying. And I don't mean JUST this "everything Wrong With MLP" series, I mean this and the entire Cinema Sins thing in general. But it's especially egregious in this series, especially when a lot of the more opinionated "sins" are actually the easiest to discredit, counter-argument against or outright disprove entirely and they often make up for more than HALF of the entire count on nearly every episode, seeing as if it just stuck to actual errors in fact or legitimate animation mistakes, the number would drop drastically to something like 12 at the most.

Seen every episode, she has her up moments, and she's alright now, but for the first two seasons she was soooo obnoxious
You acted like she was always like that, even though she isn't. That you've seen every episode, doesn't mean you know Rarity. Her Element is one of the hardest ones to live up to, the others being Loyalty and Honesty. She's always dreamed of being one of the Canterlot ponies and she can, but she's always sticked with her friends because she loves them more. In Sweet and Elite, this was shown very well. Some people forget that the ponies are supposed to learn from these faults in their episode and that is their lesson.
The part about her not caring about others makes no sense at all. In Sweet and Elite, she was in a constant fight with herself about either being with her friends or going out with the Canterlot ponies. I can see where you're coming from regarding Rarity Takes Manehattan, though.

Yet the mere fact that it was a debate, and that she lied to her friends and avoided going to Twilight's birthday for christ's sake, shows how stupidly in the wrong. I can't change your opinion. I'm well aware of that. But, at least initially, Rarity was designed in a way that made her the worst friend of the group, and horrible as a person. Seriously, the others at least had relatable and understandable mishaps, but honestly Rarity acted like a little girl that's going to always be a bitch growing up, not like a fumble anybody could make.
