This bring me back to the time when i was younger and my family was going on vacation...we were driving to the beach. My dad drove the hole night and i woke up when the sun was coming up and we were driving on the mountains...just me and my dad driving through the mountains watching the beautiful sunrise while everyone was asleep it was like the world just stoped and it was me and him. That is a memory i will never forget
+Edward Gil (ObaREX) Yeah me and a couple of friends I played it at our mates funeral a few years ago, I hadn't heard of the song until a couple of days before. Got chills man.
@@dillyDragon Really, that comment changes the song as you know it? I thought it was obvious... Every verse has references to a potential obsession and most literally mention alchol. On top of that the chorus itself is clear statement of feeling "Your drug (alcohol) is a heartbreaker (the alcoholism breaks other people's hearts). My love (for alcohol) is a life taker (could literally kill him)." Always take the chance to read further into the music you listen to, b/c most lyrics usually hide a dark, underlying meaning. Did you know that 'Undone' is about going insane in public and how people in public can easily ignore the disturbed mannerisms of someone that is insane, b/c they are already more insane themselves?
To me this song is about battling alcohol for the majority of his life..being in love with the bottle , the poison that tears apart relationships and eventually takes your life. Then years later getting clean and finding his son and then finding out that hes taken the same path even though they haven't talked in many years
It’s about an alcoholic abusive father. Read the lyrics again. It starts as a kid “turn on the television wrestle with Jimmy” dad is drinking behind his back. Later he says to his dad “I heard you cleaned up found Jesus.” “Say it ain’t so” is him being abused.
I'm the biggest weezer fan within 500 miles of my city. I want this played at my funeral if I die. This defined my teenage years. About to be in college and I've loved weezer since I was young. =w= keep it weezy.
My brother said the same!.. He wants this played at his funeral & I almost had to play it when our brother shot him & killed himself..I’m freaked out for life
I never knew that's what this song was about. I struggle w alcohol addiction. I've went years without it then it starts to slip in again. I'm so glad you're recovering
I just heard this song yesterday singing to it on a knock-off guitar hero, I instantly fell in love with it along with maps (yeah yeah yeahs) and creep (Radiohead).
Was on a road trip thru Indonesia three years ago, and annoyed crew on road by constant replay of this song. But it so spoke to me, my family drinking history, so even though they were 'ready to blow', tough bottle!
To me this song represents being in love with a girl that I was in a relationship with for 3+ years, forgiving her after every time she cheated and lied, slowly giving up on my own self love and preservation and giving into being a coke and alcoholic. Struggling to not let go of her until she finally got pregnant with another man. Her finally helping me hate her instead of myself realizing that losing her will be the best thing that's happened to me and having my father come back in my life just to see that I'm a disappointment and trying to forgive my father for abusing my mom for years and being an addict. Realizing that he was fighting himself to and that its hard. I started using at the age of 10. Coping with moms new boyfriends which were addicts and abusers. Realizing my mom had no self love either. Finding out that I watched my parents and became them after saying I would never. Choosing to change is the hardest and easiest thing I've ever done.
@@Lilsoso19 I was in a similar relationship around a year ago although not as severe I think as your case, but what happened is that she wouldn’t stop lying and didn’t have anything in common with me and I just kept thinking that I had to stay to keep her happy and not stressed out, even though whatever I did she would still remain the same, although it was hard to tell because of her mood swings and such, and I had lost so much time talking to her that I could’ve spent doing other things, but all in all I just hope she finds better help, and I feel for your story as well
2:45 - 3:20 is the best part of the song. It's like they took every scientist and told them to make the catchiest 35 seconds of anyone's life and they came up with this. It hits so different. 1,000,000/10

My dad was an alcoholic, a stay at home one at that. I grew up around many addictions in my neighborhood as well as in the home. I started smoking weed at 8 yo and haven't stopped except for jail or the military, and even then, there were times I smoked. I am now an over the hill pot head and I spend my days secluded, just like my dad and stepdad so this song hits home for me on many levels
Hey man, I just wanna say, don't be afraid to reach out for help, we all struggle with different things, I also had struggles with my father, your not alone.
My drinking buddy is called Steven and is always handing me the bottle - problem being said 'ancient' bottle is really a bomb - always blowin' money n family away ...
@@amara3840 Yeah, I literally thought they only made those covers for Africa and Take on Me and a lot of other covers. I had no idea they made a song from my fucking childhood. That’s just amazing.
Basically, the singer is using this song to present two main ideas. First it can be said that he wants to air out the emotional baggage he was holding onto due to his dad leaving. And in that regard, whereas he does lambaste him a bit, ultimately it seems that he has in fact forgiven him. Indeed during the bridge, Rivers uses the occasion to actually congratulate his dad on sobering up and finding Jesus.
I can relate to this song alot. My dad quit drinking but i have severe trauma from it. I lost my uncle to alcohol poisoning. My sister was underage drinking (i made her stop). Its caused a huge detriment on my life
