Tastes differ, but for me, this is one of the loveliest and most interesting journals I have seen. The techniques used are so effective. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful. Interesting way you personalized all those images. Also, I love the plaster effect on many of the papers. As well as the ethereal feeling of the colors. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Really stunning, Jane! You have beautifully captured the story and mood of the abby. Your painting techniques truly enhance the images and the mood of the journal. Your construction techniques are inspiring. Thank you for giving the specifics on the images you used. This is such a delightful video!
This is exquisite in every way Jane and thank you for calling out the sources. Love Graphics Fairy and what you do to enhance their already beautiful images. 🤍🤍🤍
Very pretty journal. Some years ago when my sister took me to England we toured York , London an a lot of cities around Dewsbury we saw a lot of churches. The trip was very educational and fun . Thanks for sharing this.
As an observant Catholic, this journal makes my heart sing! You've inspired me to take my mountains of holy cards and turn them into journals. Do you have any tutorials on the techniques you used in the making of this lovely work of art? I think I'll go search your channel. ~ Lisa
I love the pale blue color you have used. Your choice of angels reminds me of the 15th Century Triptych I admired at the V&A. It looked to have escaped the terror of mean old Henry VIII.
A Question - were those pen nibs which were encased in 'something' and used as tabs to some of the pages? You didn't mention them at all - I wonder why? Perhaps they symbolised all those scribes whose work - and hence 'voice' - was lost in the dissolution of the monasteries?
Jane, I am so taken with this journal...it's absolutely gorgeous ! I love to work with religous art and create quite a few items for myself with verses from the Bible. The way you painted over the prints to make them look like small painting is beautiful. I have a couple questions. When you create your page to look like plaster, are you using gesso ? ...... and, what type of paint do you use on the images? I'd love to try this technique and also, do you have any tutorials showing how you create these cards ? Thanks again for sharing this most amazing journal, it's a treasure 😘
Hi, thank you for your kind comments and questions. I did a tutorial to show how I paint the cards which is on the Premium site here: members.thegraphicsfairy.com/2021/08/23/hand-painted-art-cards/. I have a course on my Teachable site where I show lots of my techniques for making lovely plaster type textural surfaces, the course is called Enfolded Memories (www.janechippsart.school/courses). Hope that helps! Jane
Jane, have only just discovered your journaling videos. They are inspirational! Can I ask what type of paper you printed out your images on in order to add colour etc? Ordinary printer paper doesn't work as it cockles as soon as you put watercolour on it.
Hi, sorry for the delay in replying. It was normal copier paper, but I was using acrylic paint, not watercolour, so it's not as wet and doesn't affect the paper as much, Jane
Thank you! Most of them were inkjet prints. If you leave them for a while to dry really well they don’t bleed too much, and even if they do, it doesn’t really matter as your paint will mix with the ink.

Thank you Robynn, thankfully lots of treasures did survive!
Just Lovely ! I have a question . What do you mean when you say that the page has been waxed ?
I applied a coat of encaustic wax

Hi Jacky, they’re Ash tree seeds encased in encaustic wax but now I wish I’d used pen nibs as I love the connection that you made!

I love it so much! Do you use a laser printer? I'm not sure I could paint on inkjet prints ... (but might try after watching this!!)

What a absolutely stunning treasure 👍😍 can I see how you made the cover on the membership size? I would love to make one for myself..
