I can’t wait until you make some tutorials for godot 4! I love it so far but the lack of tutorials is really hard for a beginner like me - you’re right about that!
I imagine yeah... we're on it, though it'll take some time as we have to raise money soon, meaning we have to make a new product (to fund the remake of Learn gdscript from zero etc.).
@@GDQuestQA can't wait to get it once it's available!
@@GDQuestQA A "Godot 4 for Godot 3 users" type video would be nice. Also, how do you guys go about raising money? I feel like the ecosystem and brand is too obscure.
@@sufyanwild You mean a migration guide? We're looking to do something like this at some point.
And which ecosystem and brand are you talking about? If it's about GDQuest, we sell courses, quite simply. That's where all our money comes from and what funds the free content - be it videos or open-source demos.
@@GDQuestQA I've seen startups getting government grants for teaching or developing using unreal or unity. And I'm sure the companies behind these products fund endeavors such as yours. I'm surprised to see that you guys are self funded. Anyways, thanks for the awesome content.
I'm a beginner, I start with godot4 and use some godot3 tutorials (including yours), it takes a lot of time to read the documentation and googling to solve some problems, but worth it, I learn a lot,
but I would like to see your godot4 tutorials in future 😉
maybe a short video explaining and showcasing/comparing the particular differences between Godot 3.5 and 4 so we could get an understanding of the scope of upgrade/shift?
Nice Whomp's Fortress reference!
I'm a Godot beginner of half a year. I dabbled in 3.5 for a while, but never looked back once I tried Godot 4. Even if tutorials aren't entirely caught up yet, there's things in Godot 4 that just make more sense and will save you time. Starting in Godot 4 also means you won't have to unlearn stuff when the day comes that you'll switch over anyway.
I spent 2 days trying to make slopes not horrible in godot 3, godot 4 just solved it out of the box. Thankfully I didn't have too much code to convert as well.
For me a big drawback is actually not being able to export for web, I participate in the Godot Wild Jam's and the html export makes the threshold for people playing your game so much lower.
I think it's also important to distinguish what sort of a beginner you are... If you've got no experience in programming or other game engines, then yes stick to 3.x. If you're only new to Godot it might actually be better to start in Godot 4 because you're able to find solutions in the documentation and or in your programming experience. This route will be rougher in the beginning, but also makes you really dig in.
I've managed to get web exports working with Godot 4, including for chrome and firefox. Though embedding doesn't work properly, but that's also an issue with those browsers.
At 0:39 the auto-generated sub says “You may only play God of War if you are a student or professional” 🤣
Godot seems very promising
Waiting for Godot 4 is thematically appropriate
Here's a fun thing to do: see how the AutoCaptions interpret 'Godot'
It's pretty clear the speech recognition doesn't have "Godot" in the dictionary yet :P
Where can I play the demo your using?
So I know the emphasis for Godot 4 is mostly 3D. For myself I am mostly a 2D developer, is the 2D pipeline more stable considering its not had any major disruptions compared to 3D? Can you use Godot 4 for a 2D game at the moment?
Absolutely, there are new features for 2D too, like the tilemap editor that was remade from scratch, animation tool improvements, lots of simplified nodes, the improved editor interface, and so on. And you also benefit from the big GDScript and script editor upgrade too, which make the coding experience nicer too!
Just before beta 7...
i'm waiting for a stable c# and more tools.. i'd say its good enough to 80-90%
please i have problem with godot 4 , it's always going to down and crash engine
white scree after close progammer
all this happened after click on godot 4 exe or cmd
* Do your videocard support Vulkan? Google that
* Do you have Vulkan SDK installed?
beata!
I make simple 2d game with Godot 4 and already published it on Play Market
It works, but ... at least I can export custom resources ^_^.
I wonder if I can play these demos you shown here, because ever since I've upgraded to godot 4 my 3D rig setup using adobe mixamo has a huge rendering issue - like mesh is exploding on screen, stretching etc.- I want to see if it's because of my hardware or my mesh setup and this would help a lot. btw they look amazing❤.
They're not available yet, but the plan's to open-source them once they're ready. We'll surely announce the release on the GDQuest channel
@@GDQuestQA thank you, can't wait.
