@Evil Cake Genius What is the process for wanting to do mesh stenciling on buttercream? And have you had luck using buttercream instead of royal icing as the stenciling?

At 2:54 seconds at the bottom of the cake there was a huge chunk of stenisl design missing when you came back to do round two the back half at 3:08 there was no missing piece how did u repair the missing piece of stencil from the first section?
Hi Cassandra, we lost some camera footage due to a battery issue. Gah!!! With the Mesh Stencils, the stenciling is super thin, so if you miss a patch, like I did, you just let the stenciling dry, wash and dry the stencil, and line it up and re-stencil that little bit. Our over-the-shoulder camera died while I was lining up the stencil to stencil in the back side of the cake too. ECG...not Video Genius :/
@Evil Cake Genius, in the first video you specifically said that you should start with white coloring if making any color other than black. In this video you’re using a very dark and lovely black. Is there a video where you show how to get that super dark black RI?
Yes, for a larger, all over pattern like this, we do add some piping gel to the royal. It keeps it from drying out while you're trying to make sure your whole stencil is covered with royal.
We have heard from our customers that you can stencil with mesh stencils onto a buttercream iced cake with buttercream thinned with liquid whitener as the stenciling medium. If the icing is crusting buttercream, chilling well is best before stenciling. For meringue based icings, what we hear is that freezing the cake before stenciling works best, since those icings tend to be softer.
I have a question about the tape you use. I noticed in this video that you seem to have to be very careful in removing the tape when you did the last portion of stenciling. Is it possible that painter's tape would work better for stencils? (the blue tape) It sticks well, but seems to come off easier than regular masking tape.
Hi, Just wanted to know if a stencilled cake and painted cake can be stored in the refrigerator overnight or would the colours bleed with condensation when brought out? Also, do the candy colours dry completely or do they remain sticky to the touch? Thanks
For a cake which is smaller in circumference than the size of the stencil, would you: 1 stencil it in 2 stages on the cake? 2 stencil the fondant off the cake and then put it on the cake after? (Does the fondant stretch and ruin the pattern?) 3 stencil it in one go on the cake (& if so, how do you manage the part of the stencil that's left hanging over?) I'm thinking option 1 but wanted to check with the experts!
How do you make black Royal icing? I bought the stencil but no recipe for RI? You said you add piping gel? Maybe you have a video already but I cannot find it. Finding odd if you don’t
We use our just add water Black Royal Icing Mix! Also watch part 1 of this video where she explains the best royal to use :) ruclips.net/video/mzYtXWDmWnM/видео.html
We haven't personally experimented, though we've had many customers tell us the mesh stencils work with thinned buttercream on crusting buttercream iced cakes.
Thank you for demonstrate on the cake using stencil and royal icing, will try it
Yay! Be sure to tag us on social media so we can see what you create!!
While the sped up videos you usually do are super fun 😍... I reallllly appreciate the full length version like this! 👍👍
Hey Evil could you use mesh stencil on buttercream with RI?

Yay! Love you Evil Genius and your products💃💃
Thanks! It only took 4 years for them to convince me to show my face in a video. Lol
@@EvilCakeGeniusChannel glad to see a pretty face behind the awesomeness!
Lovely. Thanks for the tutorial.
how long do you leave to dry before you cover the left over space?
I was thinking this also

How long does it take to dry ? X
Can you airbrush on the mesh stencil? Thanks
Yes she has other videos doing just that
Beautiful
Nice and easy. Did you use piping gel?
Yes, for a larger, all over pattern like this, we do add some piping gel to the royal. It keeps it from drying out while you're trying to make sure your whole stencil is covered with royal.
Looks amazing well don x
Vocês entregam no Brasil os produtos do site ?
Great videos
Have you got the recipe with the piping gel to share?
We use pre-made piping gel which we sell on our website here: evilcakegenius.com/piping-gel.html
Will this work on a frozen BC cake? or will there be condensation problems?

Painters tape likely would also work well here.
Can this cake be refrigerated after this process?
How do we get the right consistency for black royal icing?

Are you doing this on buttercream or fondant??
Thank you 😍😍😍
How cold should a BC cake be to stencil. Ty
You would definitely want it to be very well chilled and crusted over, so it doesn't stick to the stencil.
also can you airbrush instead of using RI?
Do these work on buttercream?
We haven't personally experimented, though we've had many customers tell us the mesh stencils work with thinned buttercream on crusting buttercream iced cakes.
Can you use these on a buttercream covered cake?
Mesh stencils work best on fondant or edible fabric but we have had customers that have had luck mesh stenciling on a crusting buttercream!
Can I make with buttercream?
Yes! Our mesh stencils work on buttercream. You just want to make sure that you let the cake set up in the fridge before stenciling :)
