- Eastbound Norfolk Southern Train 290 passing over the Street running trackage at 19th and Poplar Streets. NYS&W locomotives were common on trains 290 and 291. This is a scene never to be repeated. The street running was removed after being in use for over 100 years. This was part of Nickel Plate Roads Conneaut, Ohio to Buffalo, New York Mainline Trackage. Video recored and owned by MarkJL261 Productions. Enjoy!
I love the Erie stuff.
Thanks for the Compliment! I will be posting more Erie footage in the future. I personally miss the train action from back then.
Grew up at the opposite end of the line in Bellevue Ohio. Im sorry I never made it up to Erie to see the street running, but the 90s were exciting times on the Nickel Plate. NS pushed as much traffic as they possibly could on the line, and pushed as much as 25 trains west of bellevue, with up to 35 west of fort wayne. Its sad what the current ns regime did to bellevue yard.
I agree those were Great times to see train Action! I read a comment online recently what NS did to Bellevue and that is insane. PSR in my opinion is terrible, i have seen for myself what it has done to train traffic in Texas and the terrible job loss that goes along with it. I rode a few of the steam powered excursion trains from Erie to Bellevue and the Bellevue Yard was impressive!
@@markjl261 ..I grew up right next to the railyard and loved the sights and sounds over the years. Bellevue is a railroad town through and through and people will get over these nonsense the railroad set forth..LOts of friends from hs who lost their jobs at the railroad. anyway i loved seeing the susy qs and soo line and brings back memories of being a teenager in the 90s and seeing those. what fascinated me the most is the short fast intermodals that NS specialized in...the Hanjin, NYK, Kline short stackers or the dreadedly long 205/206. etc...lol
Wow what a cool video! It's something else to see two NYSW SD70M's street running!
I would love to see one of the NYSW locomotives in a museum because I love the yellow paint scheme
The SD70M locomotives look Great in this paint scheme.
Longest street-running train I've ever seen.
the sounds of this video was on a CD i have at home. nice
Who would have known these engines would end up on NS's roster eventually
+Nitsujy12345 Yeah lol. Now, they’re all in storage.
Very cool
Awesome catch! NS would then acquire the NYSW SD70Ms and then retire them some years lalater.
This was always a fun train to see because of the NYS&W locomotives were used on this train a lot. NS Train Symbol 290 and NS 291. Thanks for the Compliment, I appreciate it.
I subscribed to your channels, looks like I have plenty of videos to watch! Thumbs up.
