With older hi powers you do not need to hold the slide back while pushing the slide stop-pin out. You just need to lock the slide with the safety lever in the disassembly notch and the push the pin out.
FN High Pricer Jokes aside, they tend to make expensive guns. If you want one for cheaper, go with Springfield's but be aware you might have some QC issues with those.
So it is NOT a Hi-Power, it's simply an overpriced pistol that resembles a Hi-Power but doesn't even take the same mags, grips, or parts. Got it. If FN wanted to make a modern Hi-Power that was actually a Hi-Power, they would have kept most features from the old model, only changing the flaws. They could have simply removed the mag disconnect safety and improved the trigger, elongated the beaver tail instead of changing it completely alongside the grip, and kept the old mags compatibility, only improving the magazine itself to hold more rounds, like SA managed to do. Now, they wouldn't have to stop there. They could, perhaps, still include the quick takedown, and call the base model the Browning Hi-Power Mk IV. From that, they could introduce more tactical models, with a pic rail and optics cut on a slide that takes their 509 iron sights. This way, most parts, if not all, would still be compatible with the old model, and thus still being a true Hi-Power. What they're introducing is a whole new pistol. The 1911, for example, managed to be modernized without losing its 1911 features. Why can't they do the same with the Hi-Power. I am really disappointed. This pistol is not worthy of the name it is being sold under. It is NOT a Hi-Power.
If they could have changed the original Hi-Power mags to take more than 15 rounds, they would have done it a long time ago. I don't see 2 rounds being a deal breaker in deciding between guns, it's way down on my list. But FN obviously decided that the extra 2 rounds was what the market wanted, and they had to break compatibility with the old mags to do it, probably had to elongate the grip to make it work. It's a new gun that just looks like the old Hi-Power.
Very well said, My wife and each have an SA-35. All the improvements, fun to shot, accurate, can conceal carry in cool weather, very much loyal to Browning, and way less expensive. Probably a good gun, not a hi-power, not interested.
You should be a consultant for FN, and then they might make something HIGHPOWER FANS LIKED. What a waste. I will get a SA35 when they become more available.
The price is exactly why people stopped buying them in the first place. I don’t know what they are thinking. Hate to say it I’ll stick to the Springfield.
This strikes me as being in the same vein as Sig's reintroduction of the P210. The only thing that it shares with the original is the name. If I was going to buy a new Hi-Power, I'm going with Springfield.
They shouldn't had called it a "Hi Power", that was the mistake. I think people would had been way more excited if it was a new pistol based on the hi power design. I also think people wouldn't had been so outraged at the price.....
I can agree with this. It's an all new pistol that deserves an all new name. Naming it Hi-Power brings out the rage in connoisseurs, lol. I want one but $1300 is pricey. I'll definitely wait until I can buy one below MAP.
It's a bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off for them! But seriously, this is confusing to me, genuinely, i'm not trying to be a hater here. I love the Hi-Power, to me it's the platonic ideal of a pistol. And I love the fact FN is bringing it back, but If you're going to reintroduce a revered pistol that most people love because of its history, why change it this much? And if you are going to change it anyway, why keep the mark 3 trigger that everyone agrees isn't that great, and not have a light rail on the gun? I understand they are probably feeling the pressure from the Springfield SA-35, but this just seems odd to me. It seems like it's too different for purists of the HI-Power and not new enough for people who expect RMR's and light mounts and that sort of stuff. I will say as a lefty I do appreciate the ambidextrous nature of this version of the Hi-Power, that's why I didn't jump on the Springfield model! I hope this is a great gun and if it is i'll definitely get one!

This is like when Browning discontinued the A5, and then a few years later introduced a completely different and more expensive shotgun and called it the A5.

So… why are they keeping the price so high when that’s one of the main reasons people HAVENT bought a Hi Power??
Cause it’s FN you are paying for the name.
Because FN, you peasant..
FN High Pricer
Jokes aside, they tend to make expensive guns.
SA didn’t upgrade the mags mec-gar did that like a decade ago SA just uses mec-gar mags with the SA logo stamped into them.
Dont know what your job is, but it seems like you should work in marketing or design for a firearms co. I agree with all you said
If they could have changed the original Hi-Power mags to take more than 15 rounds, they would have done it a long time ago.

That stainless model looks handsome
Is it solid stainless? He said stainless finish.
@@greggstrasser5791 the stainless steel one is butt ugly
This strikes me as being in the same vein as Sig's reintroduction of the P210. The only thing that it shares with the original is the name. If I was going to buy a new Hi-Power, I'm going with Springfield.
They shouldn't had called it a "Hi Power", that was the mistake. I think people would had been way more excited if it was a new pistol based on the hi power design. I also think people wouldn't had been so outraged at the price.....
Good thing they called it the “High Power™️” instead so that they could trademark the name 🤣
@@corditechewer lol, I didn't even notice that, your right......
I can agree with this. It's an all new pistol that deserves an all new name. Naming it Hi-Power brings out the rage in connoisseurs, lol. I want one but $1300 is pricey. I'll definitely wait until I can buy one below MAP.
Damn, imagine if they called it the “High(er) Power”, coulda gone with the whole Lord John Moses Browning deal too 😮💨
It's a bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off for them!
It wont pay off. They will discontinue this in a year or two due to lack of sales.
@@ccsniper yeah i think you may be right...I just dont understand why they didn't just reintroduce the original and try and match Springfield's prices, they would have sold a bunch. But with all the changes and the price, if it isnt absolutely amazing it wont work.
@@steveo85 yeah, I guess the main question is whether or not this gun is twice as good as the modern Springfield. Im personally not a big fan of Springfield, but its a big ask to pay double for a Hi Power that's been changed so much but not enough.
I have a feeling this was a completely unrelated project that, after they learned about the SA-35, appropriated the Hi-Power name and took some cosmetic revisions to make it resemble an actual Hi-Power.
@@infantjones honestly with how much this gun isnt related to an actual Hi-Power, you might be right!
They made a $1300 cz85

The real star of Shot Show is Hops eyebrows.
This is like when Browning discontinued the A5, and then a few years later introduced a completely different and more expensive shotgun and called it the A5.
As an original A5 owner I hate that they did that cause now searching for parts is like four times as annoying cause new and old is so often mixed up with vendors
Very nice that FN was kind enough to provide a presenter that doesn't speak though his nose
Id rather support FN than springfield but the SA-35 looks better imo
and its half the price.
Yeah, I`ll probably pick up the SA-35, but then again, might have to have the FN to.
Lately the SA-35 and the Hellion have looked interesting, probably because they weren't made by Springfield themselves
Way better.
Springfield SA-35, here I come!!!
Ouch on the price. Will it be twice the pistol Springfield is offering? But it is a great looking piece.
Double the money for what looks like the only difference being two extra bullets
If you want a cheap hi power find a Tisas
Likely yes, given the QC issues Springfield has had
@@MobiuSphereI'm definitely waiting to see if the QC issues are a result of simple growing pains of a new product on offer or a half asses money rush. Figure by middle of this year we should know for sure
@@wallaceavin7490 Having 17 rounds leaves it on a somewhat even ground to other pistols of similar overall size. If it's reliable, it might be appealing.
Had me right up to the MSRP. Looking like I’ll be sticking to the plan of getting the Springfield
They could make an optics ready 57, they could update the P90, they could update the FN 2000 but reintroducing the HI POWER 💪1900 breakthrough just could not be passed
Hop was obviously not feeling the love of the new Hi Power. 🤣
This reminds me of Ford's Mustang Mach E debacle. I'm excited to see a new all-metal hammer-fired offering in 2022 and I know people willing to pay for it, but this isn't a Hi-Power and everyone seems to know it. In fact, this reminds me of the Browning BDM from the '90s. Call it the "Browning Plus" or "Browning MAX" or even "BDM 2.0", anything but "Hi-Power".
They look lovely, and two more rounds than the Springfield version is spiffy... BUT, I can get TWO of those for ONE of these. Plus the Springfield version deletes the magazine disconnect.
I'll take the half price Springfield
Absolutely 💯 💯
You better watch the Garand Thumb video first.
Half the reliability and lifespan too!

@@andrews2438 there literally is no other options for that pistol at that price point unless you want one that doesn’t have a forged frame or barrel. Hi power is my favorite handgun. The originals are "an elegant weapon from a more civilized age" these look clunky. The Springfield clone looks better. Though I have heard their are problems.
The fact that FN is paying attention to us lefty shooters is a BIG plus to me and the original company is listening to is customers about bringing back the FN. I'm sold! I'll be looking to my local gun shops for a deal for one
The price on Hi-powers toward the end of their run was too high, so $1300 for the “improvements” is baffling since it isn’t cut for optics or have a light rail. They probably would have been better served resurrecting the Browning BDM without the selector switch and adding a light rail.
A stainless steel hi power? I can hear Yankee Marshall pulling the change out of his couch already
Oh geez..You had to bring Charlie Manson's bastard son into this?
More than willing to bet that this will require all new magazines, and will not have any parts compatibility with either the original or any of the more modern clones.
It takes Glock mags.

I asked them at Shot Show two years ago. Their representative told me their biggest problem is they are a smaller company with less manufacturing power than people realize. He said they have to fill all the military and law enforcement orders first. Personally, I think they are a company that deserves to grow.

Why bother? They're two almost entirely different guns now. The copy is closer to the original by a mile and the original is marketing something that's not the 35 under the "Hi-Power" moniker. FN ought to sue themselves for fraud.
This makes no sense to me. If your gonna do a modern take of a high power why leave out the picatinny rail. A key component to modern defensive handguns is to be able to have a weapon light on it. I would rather just see a reproduction of the old high power then this if they are gonna half bake it. I mean hell I think if it had the ability to put an optic and light on it the gun might sell I see this being an L for FN especially at 1300 msrp but time will tell
