    An entire shortblock is about $80. If it holds up it'll be a great little truck/trail saw. Great result, congratulations!

      Thanks Jim. I'm hoping it will hold up for a long time. If it does, it would make a great saw for the new guys.

    That angle forward with the cylinder is for torque up top. Where from not real sure I do know angling a block on a offset kart forwards helps with the higher rpm torque regardless of what the engine itself produces it helps hold it up higher. No idea how the old timers figured this out. Might be a thought to think on 🤔

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  Год назад

      I know that tilting the cylinder in either direction is usually an attempt to save space. Sometimes (like the 550xp and it's brothers) this is also used to maximize rod length. Buy laying the cylinder lower, you can have a long rod in a saw that is still short. And longer rod's are well known to create more torque. However...this is the first I've heard that specifically leaning it forward does this. My bet is...potato patoto. Same thing, just different execution.

    My craftsman is one step away from the dumpster. I was going to get a cs620p, but instead I'm getting 2 saws for less than half the price of the echo. A 62cc Mewars and a 62cc Proyama.

    That's a little ripping saw now. It's fast and also has torque. Nice Job! I have problems getting torque out of my Iskra clone, its exhaust opens at 99° aTDC. About that muffler mod - you left the upper half of that divider in there, to force exhaust down, then up and exit? I opened the muffler by heating the seem, then removed everything inside, maybe it's too loud and too open now. But it has a nice pop-pop-pop sound when idling.

      I don’t really use mine much either once I got a 1/4 pitch 2511t for climbing. Getting old enough that the 355 started hurting my elbow. However, I’d use it more if it cut like that craftsman! lol 👍🏼👍🏼

      Far too easy to start. If it's advanced too far, you'll get kickback while starting it. I may have just had a temporary block on the carb somewhere. Like a kidney stone that got passed. Ran fine once that little fit was over.

    3510! 3510! 3510!

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  Год назад

      So here we go...I'm gonna lay it out why I have ZERO interest in doing anything with a 3510. They are an overpriced, 35cc, clamshell saw. There is really no redeeming quality. They aren't cheap, they aren't bigger CC's, and they aren't a design that allows for easy modification. ANDDDD, on top of it all...they're a strato design. Not the type of saw I look for when wanting to mess around. That's actually the type of saw that I would point at and use to describe as an example of a bad purchase option. Like..."Hey man, whatever you do...don't buy one of those." Also, I run a RUclips channel. Popularity of a saw really makes a difference. If I purchased a 3510, spent a bunch of time modifying it, you'd be the one guy wanting to watch it. Sorry man. Not gonna happen. I honestly can't even think of a practical reason why anyone would buy a 3510.

    • @Veau88

      @@novicelumberjack i get the difficulty and limited potential of them, but ALOT of the exho guys in the exho groups have them as tiny limbing saws… ive heard you say before that you use the proper saw for the job and i use the 3510 more then 4910 or 590…i have only seen one guy in europe claim to have ported one and it looked like it ripped… i think you are underestimating the amount of people that have that small saw… i got mine brand new on marketplace for the same $ you paid for that craftsman…its your channel though… i get there is a reason no one really does it, id just be cool to see you be the first… its a fantasy of mine to see all the echos ported…its a bummer that it seems like the new 4920 isno longer magnesium case…but ill drop it now that i know youve at least seen the comment haha
