Just finished the game for the first time recently and wow. The game just kept exceeding my expectations and the finale was epic. You can really feel that Amaterasu was truly reborn and ready to illuminate the world in this track. Yami never stood a chance.
I love this game. It's unique, it's beautiful, it has a wonderful story to it. Screw Last of Us or Assassins Creed, Okami is the greatest game, methinks.

God dammit Okami had such fucking great music. The story was magnificent too. I've beaten it I don't know how many times, gotten all the stray beads and can wreck some massive shit in a NG+, but here I want to start over, because the progress feels amazing, the accomplishments feel worthy, and getting to THIS point, getting to the point where you show you ARE that sun God, ah, it is a memory that will stay with me for a long time. Another one that you all may like, coming from Okamiden, Stirring. It gets my blood pumping! A great and nearly worthy sequel to Okami, but I wish it had been on the Wii/PS2 or something similar

Shiranui was her younger self, that originally battled Orochi alongside the great hero Nagi. It wasn't something like her "ultimate mode", it was just her first wolf incarnation named by the villagers of Kamiki. Her ultimate mode was still going by the name Amaterasu.
This was one of the best overall gaming experiences I have ever had, if you get a chance get a copy of this game. Best music, best art and an awesomely epic story.
The first time I played Okami I beat Yami's final form in less than a minute, only to realize I missed out on one of the best scores of the game. Now, whenever I find myself playing it again, I always draw it out as much as possible, with the song looping at least 3 times. I even let Yami get a couple of hits, just so it seems like more of a struggle. Feels so much more satisfying this way. Honestly, Kamiya should have just given Yami like 5x more health in its final form.
There's the FAN MENU, that when open, pauses the game and still continues to play the song that was playing in the fight, or area, you are at. And since the game is effectively paused, you can listen to the beautiful music however long you wish. Also when you beat the game, there's the gifts of Issun, where you can see pictures, watch some videos and even listen to the game's music, again how long you desire.

Of course it's more epic when heard during the actual battle, I'm not arguing over that.
Erick Hoch and actually Okami tended to be used for "Inari Okami" which is why I was confused at this game title (Inari is a Kitsune god not a wolf) for a while lol, but yea it can mean that too.so it made sense to me after I found that out =3.
try Nier if you havent...unless you dont like tragedys lol. because man is Nier depressing, and whenever something seems to be looking up, it is stripped away in a flash.

ChaosXNachos Yes - the _one part_ that ALWAYS drives me bonkers trying to do. The other 99 Stray Beads? Pshaw, no problem. Those trial gates with much-buffed enemies (including 5 Evil Raos, 4 Wakas and 3 Nagis)? No big deal - time-consuming, but manageable. This Stray Bead? Makes me want to tear my hair out in utter frustration because of the many obstacles (ice, moving holes in damaging walls, evil possessed trees, a separate timer, I think there's a section where boulders are tumbling down). If only Kai were even just a little slower, or there were fewer obstacles (you can't even slow Kai down with Mist, and there's very little room to manoeuvre, unlike with Ida and Hayate), this race wouldn't p!ss me off as much as it does. APART FROM THAT, Ōkami is excellent.
No its clearly obvious alot of mortals just saw amaterasu as a simple snow white wolf/dog. Only a few select groups and people in the game were openly able to see her true form. Dragonians,poncles, the beast people of kamui, the little girl can see her and her big sister eventually can see amaterasus true form. Himiko, susanoo, possibly kaguya since shes a moon alien like waka, its possible the kamiki villagers from the past could see her and shiranuis true form since the faith in the gods was much more prevalent then. If people could see amaterasus true form they wouldnt have been so surprised she was a god when issun started showing his art in the final battle.
Hearing this song makes me feel as if I'm able to summon Ammy just like how Personas are summoned in Persona 5 during desperate times, combining an attack with Satanael and the P5 protagonist, so that we finish off Yadalobeth and Yami ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!

We had the solar flare (I do prefer the trinity mirror though) ... the crazy light beams sprouting from amaterasu, and the even more ornate crimson markings of the original Amaterasu (More so known to the villagers in the game as Shiranui, for they didn't know any better) And yet we didn't get the OP powers that Amaterasu's former incarnation showcased in the battle of lechku and nechku?! What about the damn golden cherry bomb?! The golden ink?! T-T

I've done this score
ive done it before. once you get a feel of the game and able to skip cutscenes you can beat the game in 3 hours.
