I went to high school with Greg. He was a few years older and friends with my boys older brother. I remember when he first finished HS early to go on tour and he gave me one of the first batch of his original antelope stickers. He lives for the music and was a good dude. Lots of stony crises in his old Toyota first really getting into Phish. He was always a little aggressive, lol… nobody is perfect. Good dude🙏
RIP G *Shine on you crazy diamond 💎*

According to what we have heard through the community, he passed away on 2/15 but his mother didn’t notify friends until more recently.

RIP to this man, assuming this is a real post etc. Been hanging around since oh a nice long long time ago in a galaxy devoid of the thought of cellphones or Big Cypress, and have no idea who he was. About "the rail" the sound isn't good there, in case you didn't know, there is no way to actually hear the music anywhere near properly mixed, they literally are playing in front of you with speakers pointed away from you and/or set.up to.project sound everywhere but where you stand. 🤨 so strange the things that get attracted to our scene⚡⚡☮☮

People did not like him because he was on the rail at shows?

No. People didn't like him because he was territorial up there. He would tape off a square on the ground that was "his", and he would get physical with people that encroached.
He generally brought bad energy around and was a dick.
I met him once, before I knew who he was, and not at a show, and it was not a good first impression.

He was nuts about his space up there. I guess he thought he was entitled because he was at pretty much every show for like 25 years. 700-800 shows or something. Ive never heard of fan of any band that's more talked about. There might more on Lope G on the internets than Jon Fishman. The meme's are hilarious.
