This would be really, really funny ... IF it was supposed to be Mabel Normand or Pearl White or any, ANY silent movie actress who actually was tied to railroad tracks and got pies in the face. Making it Mary Pickford just emphasizes that it's nothing like Mary Pickford. I'm baffled why they did that (maybe don't know silent movies at all??). Too bad, otherwise it's very clever and quite well-done.
I completely agree, Mary was the one who rejected the silly pantomime style of acting popular at the time. She was originally a stage actress so she was used to more naturalistic forms of acting and she brought that to film.
This is on SkyArts? Really. Sorry but I have always avoided this channel cos I thought it would just have loads of Gilbert & George going on about bodily functions, or Tracy Emin, showing the tent with all the names of the people she slept with. Didn't know what I was missing!
Lesley1000 they have to appeal to a broader audience... Arts shows tales of the unexpected also as stated above so I imagine even they know the boring traditional arty fatty shows won't ever bring them landslide victories in the ratings... Which doesn't happen for the smaller channels that aren't one of the top/big five.... Be like David and goliath lol 😁 😁
This kind of well executed .brilliant sketch is non existent in the United States Thankyou so much from Southern California.
I've had this in my watchlist for mad long
Absolutely brilliant and a great salute to Mary Pickford! Possibly the best of "Psychobitches" series.
Darn shame we can’t see this in Canada, can only see these snippets. Better this then nothing. Love these. Great cast.

If you want historical accuracy, go to a museum. If you want funny, try relaxing and enjoying the joke. You're welcome :)
This really reminds me of The Lost Tapes of History podcast....

Lesley1000 they have some really random shows like "Tales of the Unexpected" as well as the more artsy stuff :)

Hiya Cath 😂
well, quoting this very same skit, "Humour is a very subjective thing"
Both their talents are wasted in this sketch. Julia is so above this...
*Faints* LOL.
What do you think she would sue for? Annoyance.
Well executed comedy. But not very funny. Maybe have her break her silence in the end, that might have worked.
Yawn
