On the initial review process of a members OMPF prior to the board convening; if a First Class boards package is dropped and doesn't get reviewed that year, would it be too difficult to put "not reviewed due to OMPF record" or something a long those lines instead of "NON_SELECT" on the advancement profile?
A lot of First Classes are reviewed, and it's a very long pocess but the lack of feedback from the boards leave most Sailors in the dark as to why they were not advanced.

That's why it is imperative for the first class in question to review all records and then submit a package if something is missing, not up to date or something significant that does not reflect.
The goal is to not have to submit anything as you care enough keep your record up to date and current. If the first Cass is doing this then chances are they are teaching their sailors the same thing..
Keep track of your record and your sailors because it's the right thing to do, not becuse you want to be a Chief.

Getting into the tank seems to be 100% based on an individual’s opinion about your record. Is there not a point system in place to grade once’s qualifications? Being in the navy for over 15 years we all know that the evaluation process needs work. It’s difficult to know that many Sailors are on the deck plate giving more than 100% daily and not get promoted and to see unfit individuals get advanced or should I say slip through the cracks.

Very informative but how about if we move toward transparency we make the board grades transparent and available to the Sailors being graded...

There’s actually no worthwhile value in that considering you can grade yourself based off your ladder. The only major difference amongst each other is accomplishments based on your billeted assignment but that’s discussed within the board and used to only measure when comparing Sailors “in the tank”. Your grade is the exam and your evals which you have the formula for.
Plus the grade doesn’t matter because once we have our total selected, results are released in order based on years of service. If you’re someone who’s not selected, you need to consider:
Was this year applicants packages just as or more competitive?
Did I get my highest qual? Did I reach for more outside my warfare area once I had done so?
Are you in a leadership role currently? Such as LPO at Sea, or Department LPO If it’s warranted.
Does your evals say “lead” or “leading” or is it a ton of “supervising” which is not the same thing.
Mind you this is all the gouge I’ve gotten over the years from Master Chiefs and CMC’s who were board members.

are you able to provide when board members would examine enclosures attached to respective member's LTBs? would that be in the tank as well?
