@@dusanbekovic8221 I'm kinda late here but still. You only lose percentage when it goes into the ground. THe Basilisks I tamed only ate the eggs when it deaggroed from me. ANd I got all levels

Fun facts about the Basilisks:
1. Since they don't have an oxygen meter ( like rock golems ) you can go deep sea diving with them but they are slow swimmers.
2. The reason why EVERYTHING aggros tamed Basilisks is because Wildcard forgot to alter the aggro of wild carnivores towards them. Wild dinosaur's targeting A.I. treat it as a Titanoboa.
For ppl who want best trap :
1 metal foundation
Shoulder pet
Eggs
U place foundation and then throw ur shoulder pet under it.
Then u place all of the eggs on the top. Next u need to get basilisk's aggro to your shoulder pet. It will constantly try to bite ur pet but it can't damage metal structures so it will just eat all eggs and keep biting the foundation.
Are they useful? The basilisk

They do shit ton of dmg
They never get too heavy (only slot capped)
They can be used as a vault
They look awesome

i was literally screaming all the time, DON'T CROUCH AND LIE DOWN ARGHHHH since crouching lowers the chance of dinosaurs aggroing towards you, if you lie down its almost as if you are using ghillie...so he kept losing aggro because of that and probably lost taming effectivness.

He is, thats how both titanoboa and basilisk work, another tip i do with boas that i didnt try yet with basilisks is move in front of he egg so it does 1 hit and they sometimes eat the egg when they bite my dino, and also sometimes once boa gets to the egg and stops moving, landing down in front of her and the egg makes her first eat and then attack me.

From my Rock drake's saddle, I always just build an all side trap around the basilisk while it's underground, from gateframes. 2-3 gates in and woala! Perfect!
You got to name the wyverns Strychnine, Cyanide, and Arsenic, after famous poisons
You could also use one of them for the basilisk

The effectiveness goes down because you lost Agro once you have agro you have to keep it agro
I usually use 5 stone dino gates. I place them around the basilisk while on my rock drake so it doesn't provoke him and throw one egg at a time. I bring sleeping bags too because I anticipate death.

I'm kinda late to the party but I was reading some tips on Dododex, and a few recommended taming a light pet, put it on the ground, and build a metal foundation over it. Then turn the foundation into block form before dropping all the eggs on top and bringing the Basilisk to it. It will try to attack the pet but be unable to get to it. Hope this helps some people!

When I first spawned in Aberration at the portal, I almost immediately got killed by a basilisk. Easy area my ass..
When ark shows difficulty on the spawns it means how easy it is to live !!
It's just varying levels of hard
What ark means by easy: spawn here so the admins can laugh at you getting your ass kicked

Basilisks do indeed take a ton of fall damage. I ended up killing one trying to take it back to my base on a modded map once that didn't even -have- that much steep terrain compared to a map like Abberition. A shame too, if I recall it was during the extinction pre-release event and it was a lovely white color :/ Yours looks spectacular though!

yo use a bulbdog on passive. place a metal foundation over the bulbdog and switch foundation to a block. have eggs (rockdrake) in your inventory. kite basilisk to foundation. as soon as it agros to bulbdog throw (from your inventory) the eggs on the ground next to Basilisk, back off and wait.
That acid spit is dangerous
You don’t need a trap all you need to do is throw a light pet on the ground then place a foundation over it and drop the eggs on top of the foundation and it will aggro to the light pet and eat all the eggs without damaging the pet or losing effectiveness

You lost agro on it which caused it to lose some taming effectiveness. You have to keep constant agro from them.
The basilisk was targetting the stone wall for half of the time, which is why it lost effectiveness. If you want to prevent that don't leave it's line of sight.

There's an easier way to keep agro drop your light pet put a foundation over your pet it agros on the pet and can't kill it
Does this work in official?? Being I only play on hard difficulty, mods are easy mode!
@Kayla Blue I mean, he said he was going after a good way to tame these things, and even got annoyed that he lost a few bonus lvls due to this stupid creature being so finicky.
Has nothing to do with being original, its just that this tame is not well designed (like titanboas), and you use the only method that is 100% effective.
It isn't like most of the crap he does is 'original' anyway lol

I’m subscribed to Axemen without even knowing I recently subcribed to a bunch of ark you tubers
Axman used the drop that spawns there to travel to another map once you leave the map you get the off line buff so nothing will attack it.
If a basilisk hits/attacks a structure of any kind it will lose taming efficacy, so box traps are bad. Also dododex is inaccurate on eating times, true feeding intervals are roughly 4:34 mins/seconds.
Recommended taming methods for Official players are, 1 megalania wall agro tame, 2 Ravager zipline agro tame, 3 glowpet agro foundation exploit, 4 cliffside agro tame. The way in this video will ruin your tame.

I know an even easier way. Please pin it syn I'm a huge fan.
For this tame all you need is 1 metal foundation, 1 shoulder pet and 1 either rock drake or reaper.
Oh and don't forget your LOW level drake eggs.
Step 1 find a high level basilisk.
Step 2 clear out all creatures around the basi.
Step 3. Get out of agro range and put your shoulder pet on the floor and completely cover it with the metal foundation.
Step 4. Place drake eggs on foundation over shoulder pet.
Step 5. Go back to basi on drake or reaper. Dismount to get agro.
Step 6. Kite basi over your foundation with the eggs on it
Step 7. Wait for tame. Lol
Before you doubt this it works on official. The basi gets agroed to your shoulder pet, the foundation protects the shoulder pet. It sits there and bites at the foundation eventually eating the eggs and basically taming itself. It's really really easy and as long as there are no creatures near by all you need to do (on official x2 weekend) is sit there on your tame for 20 mins.
Uhhhh no take a shoulder mount throw it on the ground place a foundation on top of th shoulder mount, drop eggs on foundation and lure basilisk over the foundation the basilisk will ate empt to eat the shoulder mount but will not be able to do damage and will consume eggs. Easiest way to tame you're welcome if you're reading this.

if you can not put foundations down next to other foundations . use a ceiling . it works fine !
I think it might of lost Taming percentage because it lost agro with for a little bit
They can burrow through foundation, it happened to me before with a basic 3x3x3 trap and once they burrow on foundation they can’t pop back out
You can just build a simple taming pen from the back of your rockdrake surrounding the basilisk tail. Then drop all of your egss into it then get off and aggro the basilisk it will stay aggro-ed and you won't lose any taming effectiveness. I use stone door frames 4 high so you can run in to aggro it and run out.
You can also just sit on a drake and place 4 dino gates around it like a giga tame. Let drake tank it and just drop an egg every once in a while

Syntac maybe the reason the basilisk lost taming effectiveness is because he was fighting something and that’s why he was out of the ground(sorry if this is stupid, I’ve never tamed a basilisk before)

1step: Beat the crap out of the creature and make it unconcious
2step :give it food
3step: tame it
4step: tame a couple
5step: breed the crap out of the creature *poor female creature*
6step: hatch the eggs
7step: kill the unmutated creatures
8step: combine the mutations *again poor female creatures*
9step: make it grow up
10step: kill almost every living organism in the wild or hatch baby eggs and kill it *poor wild, baby and female creatures *
to tell it in 1 sentence mutate the living crap out of the creatures

If anyone needs help with the basilisk.. build a behemoth stone gateframe with doors.. Surround it with stone dino gates without doors. Do NOT build foundations under the trap. You will lose your effectiveness constantly because he cant burrow . Lure the basilisk in.. you need to keep aggro from the basilisk at all times. Constantly run in range and get out but never close to get bit. If you do get bit... just run out and knock out away from the basilisk and Dont let him ever burrow or you will lose effectiveness. Every 4 min feed him a drake egg.. he will usually hiss as soon as you drop the egg. That means hes ready to eat. If he doesnt hiss.. go and grab the egg again and wait another min. Thn drop it again.. pro tip: the best way to drop the eggs is with the rock drake
Ive tamed basilisks with perfect taming effectiveness. I hope this helps people in the future
Also if you fuck up the taming effectiveness.. leave the basilisk for an hour or 2 and come and try again. The taming effectiveness will be reset
