- first drive, first "official" start in the 1955 Ford. As I mention in the video, let me know your suggestions on how to get that headliner clean without tearing it up or replacing!
She is looking so good. Great to see her back on the road. Great job. Love OG restorations.

That’s such a beautiful car! Love those 55. Take it easy with that headliner, ol stuff don’t like to be disturbed, it’s kinda wool made and very sensitive!
gonna join you sunday brother ,,,,oct 25th 2020 ,,,bought a 55 fairlane here in new hampshire ,,,from a man that has much love for old cars ,,i waited 4 years ,,,was 55 when i seen it ,,,but i could borrow from my IRA retirement account ,,,they would of ppenalized me ,,gottta be 59 and a half ,,,bought it for 10,000 ,,, was origignally 12,500 ,,,,but he knew i wanted it ...and its been sitting ,,,so far in the 4 years ,,,the timing belt has been changed, ,,the didtributer that was frozen was changed ,,,carb 4 bbl ,,has been changed and the battery ,,,,its in excellent shape for the year ,,,i beleive its never seen the winters here ,,,im 60 now its mine ,,,,bob beleanger the one who sold it to me deserves allot of praise for all works ,,along with ritchie ( sorry dont know his last name) ,,,both are 70 yrs old ,,,and are champions of what they do ,,,me ,,,im just the owner ,,and lover ,,,of old cars ,,,with patience and perseverence ,,of time ,,and perhaps being the PEST if you will ..and having alllot of aingst ,,,OF JUST driving it
A new fuel tank is a must on a car this old!
FYI, this 1955 Ford IS NOT 70 years old! It is 67 years old this year!

Your maths is strange. The car was made 65 years ago nd you state you drove it for the first time in 70 years?
Love the car. I had a 4 door right hand drive one in 1970 in Australia and loved it. Bulletproof vehicle.
Lol I rounded up! Technically it hasn’t been on the road-legally- since 56 based on the paperwork I’ve found. It’s a cool car though! Got a couple new videos on it in the works currently.
Bought a 55 like this in 63 , ran great, had a rebuilt motor,gray primer all ready for paint. Paid 75 dollars for it, sold it to a friend of mine for 50 bucks and he totaled it. Kicking my ass now
I remember when you could get a nice one for 1 or 200 dollars.
It is IDENTICAL to a T to the first car i owned . I bought it when i was 19 years old . It was 12 years old I paid 100.00 for it . The reason that i got it for that price was because it burnt one quart of oil every 20 miles. Unfortunately i rolled it and it then went to the wrecking yard . Fortunately my buddy and i survived the accident. No seat belts back then . Lucky. I will keep coming back to see this video again .
good luck my friend ...yes your exhaust may be loud ,,,but im thinking a good tune up ...might be a calling ,,,, wires ...and timing ...the man i bought mine from ...did all that ...but i still have some sort of skip ..like yours ...im not sure what it is ...perhaps with me its a deeper thing ..(god forbid) ,,,,rings ,,, but im happy you drove it around ...start with those simple things ...and please post another video ,,,would love to see how it all comes out ,,,,BRING IT ALIVE AGAIN ...ive got the 55 ford fairlane ,,2 dr club sedan ,,,with the 292 engine ,,,4 bbl carb .,,,holley was replaced with a rebuilt edelbrock ...got a 12 volt system ...perhaps was built in the ladder of the year ,,,i know there was a conversion...and strangely ,,,got the dual master cylinder for the brakes ,,,,,phew on that ,,,,i wanna know if im gonna stop ...im having troubles with my facebook page on me signing on ,,,,password i forgot about ,,,but im on there ,,,denis fossett ,,,look at my page and youll see my car ,,,good luck with yours ,,,like mine ,,,it needs a lil love ,,,i know youll get it there ,,,best to you ,,
My 55 would start to overheat after the first 30 minutes or so or faster if it's on the highway no matter what I did. Changed the thermostat, flushed the radiator, ran the heat in the cab.. nothing seemed to work. Not until recently was I told that that old factory 4 blade radiator fan was actually recalled in 1956 because they were known to actually throw blades and were apparently not very good. I put a modern plastic high-flow fan on and there and now the car doesn't overheat anymore and actually cools back down when hot when moving now like it should.

When l was a kid in 58 , my uncle said his car was always overheating while stopped at a red light in summer. My other uncle asked to look at the motor and told him that the fan was on backwards. Instead of pulling in cool air it was pushing out hot engine compartment air. 😂
G I been watching these guys starting these 55 and 56 ford s that been sitting for years I'm about wanting to go work on mine but it's to cold out and my energy is a little low maybe because I'm 73 I think I will go buy me some geritol ok

it's still here at the moment, just got pushed to the back burner at this time.

Ya nah this car is far too original for that. Ls swaps need to be saved for the scrappier cars. They're only original once.
