Some of my ancestors came from Giessen. sometime in the early 19th century. Name Meisel ,Maisel, Mizel. Various spellings on old census returns. Turn up in Norfolk , then County Durham and lastly Sheffield. My Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Maisel buried in Sheffield cemetery. Born in the 1840`s died 1921. They seem to have been a long lived family compared to the average Briton. One Maisal appears to be 92 years old as listed on a census return. Hartomann Maisal. Strange name not even sure if it was recorded correctly.
