KR MODELS - GETTING SLATED AS "BUCKET MARKET" ! This model has received "scathing" reviews in Britain. Incorrectly designed wheels, the manufacturer appears to have confused the American designed "Boxpok" wheel with the similar but different British BFB (Bulleid Firth Brown) designed wheels. Numerous other details not correct, such as handrails in the wrong place. Missing or totally concocted details. And a problem of a number of these models loosing wheels, which "drop off" their axles when you first put the model on the track. Indeed "RM Web" slate this model as "Cheap & Cheerful" and production methods of "Looks about right, so don't worry" ! Not recommended !
I didn't see any of these reports until after I had reviewed my example. After I saw them, I compared the wheels with those on my Hornby Merchant Navy, and yea, you aren't wrong. My example had none of the running or loose wheel issues that I saw from others. When reviewing the details, I went off whatever I could find online, which was limited. I'm not an expert, and I make that clear in the video. Running performance on mine is pretty good. Given how much more is available about the class online since the release of this model, the detail would go down a bit.
@@exarkun42 KR Models are based in Canada. Possibly not the best place to be when you wish to produce esoteric British outline models such the Bulleid "Leader". My commercial experience in the business, is that if KR Models don't go Bankrupt, they may in a few years learn how to improve their "Quality". But until that time, I personally will not buy any of their products. I also suspect "KR" production could be in Canada.. So does not have the benefit of the high tech Japanese made tooling now used by a few of the Chinese plants, both in Honk Kong & the PRC & also the German plant in Vietnam !

It's not a growly motor- you've been running it with one axle on the sleepers (ties).
@@dialwright i double checked when putting it on the track that this wasn't the case. It still growls to this day.

@@railwaymechanicalengineer4587I've had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Mr Revell directly. A most unpleasant person to be honest.
