It's great to see you back, and I hope that if you haven't already received your Kickstarter items that you'll receive them soon. I just received mine today. Even though you had a lucky roll mid-way, don't forget the horrible dice you faced in the beginning. I honestly didn't think you'd make it initially, but I think you demonstrated how the game does allow you to adapt based on your situation. In fact, you've had to pull a victory out of what seemed to be certain defeat several times in your earlier videos.

Thanks, and yes they did arrive but I have not had time to open that box yet.
Yes, the beginning was very rough and I was down to 1 soldier very early. But you got to keep pushing and keep adapting. This is the exciting part of the game!

Welcome back. Hope you are physically and mentally OK.
A very good move to publish this turial. You come up with some great tips for new new players in this excellent game.
Yes, there are elements of luck in the game, but there is also a need for good planning - both a Plan A and a Plan B.
And luck occurs not only in games, but also on the battlefield. I imagine that the outcome of small and large confrontations between the German defenders and the attacking Allied soldiers on D-Day has in several cases been governed not only by good planning, but also by various portions of luck.
Take when an American halftrack mounted with an anti-aircraft gun from the 467th AAA AW BN (SP) lands on Omaha Beach near WN 65 and finds that the 50mm gun in WN65 is laying down a deadly fire on the beach. The section leader on the half-tack cannot immediately shoot at such a low target. However, as luck would have it, he can drive his halftrack over a sandbar, with which he can get the cannon lowered far enough to fire on WN65. A full hit puts the WN65 out of the game. The right man and unit, at the right place and time. A little luck is needed here.
Keep up the good work Daniel.
PS! Remember Churchill's wise words: "Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential".

Thank you mate! I am doing ok, but will probably heading beack early next year.
Well said! I do not like when people call this game "Nazi Yazi". It's a good game if you get to know it.
Your comments are always rich in history, and always teaches me something. You are like a walking WW2 encyclopedia :D

Same here! DDDP is hopefully going to be just as fun. I just hope they don't focus to much on player nerfing weather/temp/diseases effects, like we saw in DVG's "Warfighter Pacific". I did not really enjoy that

First off, I found your channel a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I am a mostly solo board gamer, and awesome to see I'm not the only one! I am also very much into military board games because of the history.
I have watched this video, and the #9 map, and I have one rules question for you. I know there are multiple different editions of the rules, and I haven't looked at all of the variations yet but I noticed that on multiple occasions, first noticed at 13:21 on this video your locking 3 dice on the first roll, at least in the 2nd edition rulebook(I just looked) I read it as on the first roll you must lock 2, and only 2. Roll 2 and 3 you can lock any amount and or reroll any amount of the 4 remaining unlocked dice. I might be interpreting that wrong, and a different edition of the rules, or an addon might change that, but just curious.
Please keep up the great work in your videos!

@@richardglatter3063 page 5 "Tip: after any roll, if you like what you have, you may stop". Also look at the play example on the same page, where 3 dice are kept in the first roll and it also says "We can choose 0-4 dice to reroll".
There is a thing to keep in mind here. 2 of the dice MUST be locked. Even if you keep 3-5 dice after the first roll, you need to determine which 2 dice are locked. The reason for this is because after your second roll, you may reroll any of the 4 dice which are not locked.
Play example: In my first roll I get 3 "skulls" and 3 "soldier" results. I decide to lock 2 "soldier" dice and keep 1. I reroll the 3 "skull" dice and get 1 "skull" and 2 "stars". I decide to keep the "stars" but reroll the "skull" and the one none locked "soldier" result that I kept from the first rolling phase, in hope of getting a "star" RWB. I hope that makes sense!
      Thank you!
