Hi Shawn, could you let me know where to find one of your resources that explains the obligatory scenes for Literary fiction? I have watched some story grid videos and have noticed that obligatory scenes are mentioned as necessary for each genre. I appreciate you laying it out here for the thrillers genre and I have seen it laid out for romance but I remain stumped about what they would be for literary fiction along the lines of The English Patient and Atonement. I'd be very grateful if you could pass me to a resource for this. Thank you.
The Story Grid website has breakdowns of the following genres. The books you mentioned might fit into one of them. I don't think literary is a genre. Action Genre War Genre Horror Genre Crime Genre Thriller Genre Western / Eastern Genre Love Genre Performance Genre Society Genre Status Genre Morality Genre Worldview Genre
@@kit888 Thanks for your reply. Literary fiction is definitely a genre. It may not be in Story Grid's mind but it certainly is in the traditional publishing world.
Do a search for Worldview Internal Content Genre Story Grid and you'll find an article by Story Grid with obligatory scenes for the worldview story. I don't think RUclips will let me post the link, but I've seen the article and it has the conventions and obligatory moments.
Does your book contain a listing of all of the obligatory scenes for all of the genres?
No, but the authors give tools to make your own story grid.

They're also in the story grid book, which I believe is available for free
