Yeah people seem to think lightly played and even moderately played cards are all near mint when ungraded. I only make orders with photos for that reason.
I definitely think TCG Player does a good job of keeping the cards you get within the proper condition rating. Whenever I've had an issue in the past, I have had an easy time getting them sorted out.
Near Mint probably just means that it was straight up thrown in a kids pocket for about 5 weeks, and there happened to be a mint in their pocket as well...

I've bought singles off of 2 sites. Literally only 1 card I've gotten listed as NM had a couple creases in the middle which obviously isn't NM, but it was also a $2 card so I wasn't worried.
That’s why eBay is one of the best places to buy singles. Sometimes it’s a little more expensive, but a lot of sellers do pretty great photos of the cards. Allowing you, the buyer, to judge the condition before purchasing

I live one town over from where Troll & Toad is. They are way overpriced on most of their cards imo, but selling stuff to them can be beneficial at times because I can just drop them off.
The time of buying mint cards from troll and toad is over. I was buying a bunch pre 2018 and it was mostly just from the market being less efficient as it is now. People had to sell their collections to stores like Troll for next to nothing cause it was hard to even find buyers. Collectors buying from the website could find really good conditions sometimes with the amount of cards they deal but they didn't even start using penny sleeves till recently. They used to put holos in toploaders without sleeves. Maybe still do idk. 😂 It took them a long time to even adapt to a decent standard. It's still very loose and unforgiving. I have to imagine they deal with many many returns.
You can still clean up some of these imperfections with a Q-tip ! They're usually easily taken off... and don't purchase anything from Troll and Toad 😅
I bought the SM tag team Garchomp & Giratina alt art, and it arrived in an envelope... no sleeve, no top loader, just the envelope. But that card still arrived in better condition than some of these.
This is at beginning of video, "Troll in Toad" online shop is one of the higher end shops so I'm hoping to see cards shipped in top tier ways and also you should get what cards as explained. Tho I only buy from them here an there, but when I've purchased singles they've come sleeved, in a top loader or card saver depending on the cards value. An then had card board on each side held by painters tape so no left over sticky residue. Granted I only purchased a few cards they seemed legit can't wait to see how they do on a larger scale
For me personally, most of them actually looked like what you would expect from older near mint cards. They are still in pretty good shape but not PSA 10 candidates. I guess for grading they mostly would get grades from 7-8. Edit: First: The reverse holo Gengar is just... not near mint... That's harsh! Second: Rockets Raikou ex is not from EX Team Rocket Returns, but from EX Deoxys as a box topper (if I remember correctly).
Rev, I said the same thing in my review. Kinda mad about that, why not at least individually sleeve if you are going to pack all in one. Even on a $20/30 card. You are right, that's not cheap
from my experience stores like these will often send beat cards like some of these and wait to see who raises a complaint. any time iv complained iv been given a healthy credit once i raised the issue

The guideline is to wide theyre basically saying "NM" can range from psa 5 condition to psa 10 which is massive
it's a psa 7-10 for an actual near mint card never buy online because you'll get ripped off on condition look at the card in person first

Yep, all the reverse holos from the legendary collection have that firework pattern. It's pretty sweet

Back in 2016-18 I was buying tons of NM holos from T&T and were grading 10’s consistently. Now there’s absolutely no way!!!

Troll and toad NM means MP everywhere else normally. I've gotten a FOLDED In half card before, but 1 big crease counted as 1 flaw, therefore... NM LOL
i mean alot of cards i have pulled from scarlet and violet sets look like this straight out of the packs. Is that not normal for anyone else?
