i did it with a container that looked almost identical to the one you used in your video and in my case sparks were visible immidiately and the smell from the burned aluminium was so horrible that i had to throw away part of the food that was inside. i recommend everyone to be careful with aluminium in a microwave especially aluminium that is thin or has sharp edges, they seem to spark the most
Did you have a metal lid on it or was your tray touching the edges of the microwave? Or did you have it sitting directly on the bottom? There can be no metal to metal contact or it will burn
When microwave ovens were first introduced metals could damage the magnetron, but modern ovens are safer. Always read your owners manual for the appliance you are using. It could be the density and shape of the metal have to do with the danger of damage to the unit.
just warmed up my pasta in an aluminum tray-like bowl, put it in for 10s 3 times just to be safe if anything bad happens. all good now! no sparks and hot food, thanks :)
The risk of sparking is higher with sharp edges, or small gaps between metal pieces. If you use metal in the microwave, keep each piece as far away from each other, and from the walls of the microwave, as possible. Don't let any touch the walls of the oven.
THE ROUNDNESS, SMOOTHNESS AND THICKNESS OF THE ALUMINUM MITIGATES THE LIKELIHOOD OF CARRYING A CHARGE STRONG ENOUGH TO HEAT UP, OR SPARK, SIGNIFICANTLY. AS SOON AS YOU BALLED UP THE ALUMINUM PAN, YOU CREATED POINTS OF RECEPTORS THAT COULD INTERACT/CONDUCT AND CARRY AN OPTIMAL CHARGE TO CAUSE FIRE AND DAMAGE. 👀🤓😜👌✅✌️
It's not about the material, it's about the fact that the microwave is weak. The real microwave power can be about 400W, if you put it in a microwave that has stainless steel sides / 900W, it will spark nicely, maybe even the plate would crack.
I've had so many nightmares where I open the microwave and it keeps running, and it starts killing me from the microwaves getting out. I was feeling extremely agitated watching your experiments! However, I recently bought food from a Spanish food bodega and they microwaved my meal in a tin foil tray and I was in complete shock. Now I see from your video that they know something that 99% of the rest of us didn't know. I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to do it though.
Julia NYC, You can use foil in some microwaves. There're also black plastic trays with assembled lasagnas that you put into the oven and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 minutes. Things are improving every day!
I would never take that chance. Same thing with anything that looks like it may be styrofoam or plastic. The only plastic i trust is saran wrap or those elastic bowl covers that look like shower caps. Just transfer the food to dinnerware.
The scary thing about aluminum in the microwave is that a current is flowing through the pan and it is very probable that aluminum ions are going into the food and being ingested. Aluminum toxicity DOES make humans susceptable to bone fractures and there is compelling evidence that aluminum ingestion over time is linked to Alzeimers and or Parkinsons disease.
I have a brand new microwave… pretty expensive too and my daughter put a gold paper plate in it and it sparked and now smells horrible. I’m so afraid it’s ruined. Is there a way to get rid of that carbon smell now? I don’t think it was in very long.
I don't want to give you lessons. If it is designed not to carry charges you may microwave it. The supplier should mention this on the product. So never ever risk your life to do these things. This not only make burns. This could definitely make some contaminations on food and finally may poisonous. So better go for microwave safe utensils.
Currently watching a large foil tray spinning around the microwave in my work canteen with a big lump of dead animal in it.. I'm full of anxiety waiting for the fireworks 🙈😲😫🤯🙉
Who else warming up pasta
I want hot pasta but im scared
Yes gooo
Dominos chicken Alfredo pasta 😂😂😂😂

Even if it doesn't spark it doesn't mean it can't leave the magnetron 😃

Burnt it? You did it and walked away?
Sharp edges on the metal surface cause Sparks because of voltage buildup in a small area flat surfaces the charges are spread out
Hi, notice the trays ends are tucked under. That is why it did not spark. Exposed ends is what causes the sparking. Test it 😊

aluminum foiled trays are designed to be in microwaves

So just watch it if there's food in it and don't microwave the tray alone, got it.

Some commercial microwaves are oven & microwave combined.
hi.. how are you
Umm girl calm down microwaves aren’t deadly 🤨

You can use foil in some microwaves. There're also black plastic trays with assembled lasagnas that you put into the oven and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 minutes. Things are improving every day!
But I did exactly what you do in this video. It sparked and scared the poop out of me.
really? i can't believe it
Omg really?😂😂
@@rstar3397 You can try it yourself. I am too scared to film a video to prove it.
Same here😟
@@SamTHECOOLER No need to prove it.🙂I found it funny because the way you said it.
Mine sparked right away and burnt on a black mark in the back of the microwave
uhh what a big fearr
As long as it doesnt touch the side of the microwave youre generally fine.
Australian Microwaves: ❄️🌨️
Apparently, thicker metal absorbs mor waves so will take longer to start sparking. Also, it needs points or edges where electrons collect.
Just trying that you're proven brave..I searched to see results, I saw but won't try lol
i put lasagna in aluminum box in a microwave and it started sparking like 💀(it said on the instruction that i can put that in microwave)
3:22 sparks
This was a great video!!!!!!
It depends on the quality of product as its sparks... I already tried many times with different aluminium containers
Rafi Rafi I’m not putting any aluminum in a microwave
@@collinnc2001 I m talking about what you using here aluminium disposable tray
what about aluminum leaching out in your food. I feel like this method would greatly increase that
After it sparked is it still safe to use? I accidentally put a mcdonalds ketchup in it and it sparked for 1 second
Try a fork. They were great in the microwave also when you put them in Outlets they work even better
Thanks, you're a life saver

304 grade stainless steel grill grate, can it be used in microwave oven?
Bro sounded it out when he said Alu- mini-um.
What scared me is him poking his finger in the noodles in the first try 😂😂😂🤣

Aluminum toxicity DOES make humans susceptable to bone fractures and there is compelling evidence that aluminum ingestion over time is linked to Alzeimers and or Parkinsons disease.
This is false. Thorough studies were done by a German institution that showed that microwaving aluminum left no harmful byproduct in the food
Would that be the same case for induction?
And what about full stainless (inside too) microwave..?
Sharp edges create the sparks I think.🤔
Okay thanks. Lemme go warm my food up
Thank you, i got something from here🙂👍🏻
What is the name of the tray used? and Where we can find it?
Hey what size pan is that a 1 pound or 2 pound?

keep coal in it for while to pull out the bad smell
It aint ruined
Smell goes away after a day

i put an aluminum pie plate in by accident and it set on fire. smell was awful damaged side wall.
It will cause fire if you open the foil, flat
But I thought it would blast off if you try things like thse
“Ah lew min ee um”
Metal with sharp edges will spark in the microwave, be it metal or even some foods...
Never heard of food made of metal, except those crazy people who eat gold leaf.
I tried this and the foil became an little alien.
how TF am I supposed to microwave my potatoes without tinfoil?
I am curious what happen at 0:38-0:40 ?the sound doesn’t match it seems sus…
Can confirm it works. Just heated the mayo fries in tin foil container without lid.
