The clouds in your brain will disapate and you can make better decisions in your life.

Watching this right now and I cry 😔 A child sports prodigy with no anonymity in a crazy football state.
Seemingly all too available is the attraction of elite football as his father says, paradoxically it becomes Bens ultimate challenge.
But I agree mostly with all the medical pros now and my understanding of drug use and addiction. His brain is probably beyond repair, therefore his reality is distorted physiologically only to sustain the high needed to function.
Incredible consumption in his admittance has to be absolute hell. His life will end in tragedy.
I love you Ben 💕 Thank you for the years of brilliance even though I now I somehow feel complicit in your public demise as you did well , we loved you and were quickly to dismiss you when another incident occurred as the years of drug abuse took it's toll.

I have and still struggle with addiction (alcohol) but I couldn't imagine going through it with the amount of media and headline scrutiny this guy has had to endure. It's hard enough without all of that and I do undestand that with being a superstar that all comes with it. I'll never forget what Akermanis said about him when he played on him, Aker said he came out in the second half and ran harder than the first half. So I'd say that their premiership needs to be questioned, because speed/meth gives you energy that you would not believe if you've never tried the drug. you can overcome pain, mental stresses etc and it gives the user a massively unfair advantage over players not on it, it turns you into Superman. Also he wasn't the only Eagles player using meth in the grand final and the years either side of that final. It should be wiped from the record books. The club knew he and others were doing it as well but they turned a blind eye because winning is all that matters. They knew well before it became public because the cops were telling the club, ordinary Joes who seen him and team mates smoking up big on the meth pipe, the club only became "concerned" when it became public knowledge, so they're just as guilty

Its hard enough dealing with addiction when your community knows, i cant imagine what its like when the whole country knows. I've never met an addict who wasnt damaged in some way, not that its an excuse for the things we do. I just hope he's ok and gets himself better, as "better" as he can be. I have the privilege of knowing Ben personally, for a Brownlow medalist and premiership player he is extremely humble and down to earth. His achievements during his spectacular career are ones most of us can only dream of. He is retired from footy so his life should now be left private, yet the grubs that are the media keep putting such unimportant events such as failed drug tests on the news so people can sit in their little safe bubbles and vicariously make judgements about him without knowing the facts about why he chooses to make the choices he does. He even says himself if you make your bed, you lie in it. To the fake media who make these menial stories to sell pathetic gossip magazines and news, leave Ben the fuck alone.

Nothing wrong partying but when you are causing your family this amount of pain then at some point you have to grow up and beat your addiction. There is something missing that helps to cause this type of drama every now and then, especially with the dedication of people to their lives and everything in it like Ben, this thing is putting the person in the right place when approaching the end of playing, psychologically to the player when he reaches the height of his glory during the game , And all these people and media heading towards him, suddenly faced with his own fate, must be something suitable alternative, so he knows how important to us as Adami first and then as a player history will register his name in this country.

The line that always stuck out to me from this was that quote 'idle hands are the devils tools' because really it's true, I've been out of work myself and you feel tempted to have a few too many drinks and indulge in things you shouldn't and you well and truly regret it later. I just wish Ben had been able to pull up earlier, I remember seeing this and then hearing of what he looked like in that interview a few years back and it's just sad, but it's all on him really to a large extent. Me personally, I would have intervened the moment he brought his dad into it like that, that bus stop story was just sad. For all that's said about Ricky Nixon, and don't get me wrong that bloke has stuffed up too, I applauded him for saying 'you've got to make a choice Ben, is it your kids or the drugs'. Honestly, that probably should have been said to Ben 5-10 years ago. I'll give it to him, he was an incredible athlete, he could certainly play and I have never seen a bloke run like he could. But his life story is just sad and watching this doco back now, with the benefit of hindsight and what we know now just brings it home even more.
