This was great Brandon! I applaud Ryan for reaching out to you and I really appreciate you for answering his call and helping him get in the proper direction to make a proper diagnosis. This is how great relationships are built, when people put the ego aside and reach out for help and also when people like you offer the right help or advice without intentionally trying to steer someone down the wrong path, believe me I have seen it and in my early days it happened to me more than once! Anyway, thank you both for another great wrench tale! 👌🏼👍🏼
Though I don't do a much diagnoses, I have pico automotive scope and snap on built into the modis, which I make full use of, this case study just shows the power of a good scope it's thanks to Scanner danner that I got into scoping a 10 + years ago " if you can use a multimeter you can use a scope ". Thanks to all the great teachers out there on youtube etc for giving such good training on using a scope as it has helped me plenty of times, I'm now in my mid 60's but still learning thank you Brendon, Paul Danner and Eric O and all the other techs giving helpful information
They would, if a leak was present during the time of testing. Many times dynamic conditions are the only way to flush faults to the surface. Sometimes, valves, intermittently seat and cause intermittent issues. This job is 30+ hours of labor, thousands of dollars to repair. Ryan did not want to invest the time and money only to find out the engine was damaged beyond repair in required replacement after the fact. I hope that makes sense.
Man love your videos always learning got to start using a scope

The customer is lucky pistons and valves didn't "KISS" each other😝😝😝, otherwise ???????
For sure! But we would’ve definitely seen that in the data we were analyzing, and for that exact reason is why were analyzing
Why wouldn't an individual cylinder leak down test show the integrity of the suspect cylinders ability to seal?
