During an interview with Patti Austin, they were talking about the best singers in the world. At the point where they were talking about black women being best singers she said, No - Filipinos are the best singers in the world. It’s in RUclips.
Debatable at best. OPM is heavily based on modern Western music, which in turn is rooted in Black American music (blues, Black gospel, jazz). Hip-hop also originated in Black America. Nobody sings the American classics (and most Western hits) as tastefully and soulfully as Black American singers.
Nevermind what they said... And maybe. She said that coz they are not on Hollywood or Really out there...on Top of song billboards ...so she has a point... So that's oky😊 they're Popular here in the Philippines though ❤❤❤
but you know it's all about the culture and generations and whether the 'origins' keep practicing to keep their art alive. gotta admit that somehow the level of singing in america is in the decline. not in the music industry but just in the population in general. people dont sing as much as they did a couple decades ago. even what rap has evolved into or what i should say 'devolve'. but in the philippines, they sing anywhere, everywhere. they have karaokes at home, and it's just part of their hobbes they do sober, or while they're drinking at parties. and from the young up to the seniors all participating together with the family. Now quantify that, there's a karaoke in every family. i dont know the numbers, but if there's a really good singer for every 50 familes, and then you figure out how many families there are...... Sure you could say are copying, but then by using stats, you could still determine how many good singers there are that don't copy. I found out about the filipinos singers during the lockdowns. and it's crazy.... so "best singers in the world" it's debatable sure, subjective sure, but using statistics here just pretty much opened my eyes on how crazy it is over there.. it's mind blown
More of JONA please. She has a lot to offer 💪🏼 Above all of it is her passion when singing/performing. By the way, she was 29 y/o when she performed in that clip.
Thank you sooo much dear Johnny and Richard for listening, reacting, and watching Jona and her way of singing, that's why she's labeled as the "FEARLESS DIVA". She takes risks in every song yet it gives a very soulful, tasteful, that it can't help but make someone listening to cry, be emotional and just feel proud.😍❤️🥹👏
REO Brothers back story: They were starting a few years as a cover band in Tacloban City when Super Typhoon Haiyan or Yolanda struck. All they have saved I think were their guitars. They went to Metro Manila to relocate a few days after the typhoon. While there, a group formed a fundraising event for Typhoon Yolanda victims. The Reo Brothers - typhoon survivors & victims themselves joined that fund- raising event. That's how they got known nationally ( because the event was live-streamed) and eventually globally.
Jona is actually a world champion when she bagged gold in wcopa in different genres. JONA and Morisette usually have great chemistry when singing together. Hopefully you could listen to theri performance of Problem and emotions during birit queens concert also in araneta. Jona is very technical Love her!!!
I feel Johnny's reactions during somewhere over the rainbow is the closest thing will ever get for a tear jerker reaction from him. I love it lol and I love that Jona made Richard shed tears. Ahhhh best reaction😊
More of Jona please. Here in the Philippines, she is so underrated. 1. Jona 2. Lani Misalucha (Bukas na lang kita mamahalin at wishbus) 3. Lea Salonga duet with Rachelle Ann Go ( music in my mind) 4. Regine V. With Morisette A. (Mariah Carey tribute) 5. Katrina with Eumee Thank you and enjoy your Fridays 😊
For Katrina, Burn is a must watch and the duet with Sam Mangubat ( I Turn To You). For Sb19, their Wish Bus version of Bazinga is a also a must watch, and their duet with Regine. Gigi's Saving All My Love For You is so good.
This concert of Lani, Jona and Darren is phenomenal. This is the same concert people are requesting for Phantom of the Opera for Opera last time. Need to check Lani Misalucha as well.
Thank you for finally reacting to JONA. She is one of the increasing singers here in Philippines. Hoping that you will react more of her performances 💛
If you do Lani Misalucha she did 1 Wishbus live and just about 3 mos. ago did a performance with FASO Filipinon American Symphony Orchestra also in YT. She used to have a show in Las Vegas with Filipino based band and frequent by some known artists. Regine Jaya and Lani are contemporaries and personal friends. They have duets but am not sure if it is in good quality. Regine sang her version of Someday Somewhere an OPM, original pilipino music, a must watch ( which Stell of SB19 performed recently in a concert in honor of the composer). She also performed Barbra Streisand Papa, can you hear me? from the movie YENTL. If you decide to feature her again.
Thank you for this rv. You wanted to hear Darren Espanto's adult/mature singing voice...he was with Jona and Lani Misalucha during that concert where Jona was singing 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and belting in such an awesome manner. Darren sang 'Phantom of the Opera' in that concert...hope you'll make an rv of it. The other great singer, Lani Misalucha, would be so nice to have on your Friday list, too. She sang in Las Vegas for many years before settling in the Philippines for good.
I loved ❤ you have this Filipino Friday featured the great artist and artist of Philippines ❤❤❤. Listening 🎶 to all these great singers is like a roller coaster feeling! 🎢 ❤ I'm having the good time!
Thank you for reacting to my favourite video in RUclips, Jaya and KZ singing “Feeling good”. Every time I watch this video, it really makes me feeling good. This is the video I go back to during the pandemic to perk me up.
Omg my first time to see that Jona ridiculous ❤that was fantastic ,I just don’t know my heart is full and it have this feeling that it will burst ,,I just don’t know I can’t explain..I want to cry 😢
Check out Jona's performance of I'll Never Love Again (similar title but from Lady Gaga's A Star is Born.) The video from September 2019 - The Aces. There are two similar looking videos from the same event, one is on Jona's channel but that's an audience recording, but there is a better quality venue production if you scroll down a little, usually--it's the thumbnail photo that has three pinkish cubes in a triangular pattern in the bottom right corner, uploaded by evelyn de leon. For a while I thought they were the same performance but they're actually different performances from the same event. I think she does the best version of the song, including Lady Gaga's own version.
I so forgot about Jona and Jaya. Love them. Just to note.... No one can beat these 2 girl group Super Female Vocalist : ASAP DIVAS and BIRIT QUEENS of the Philippines. Best Female duets assembled all time.
I'm over the moon now that you have found out about Jona (johnuh). I just started watching and I am hoping one of the songs you got for tonight was her take on Queen of the Night. If not included, please please please include it next time. Thank you so much Richard and Johnny! ❤
REO Brothers have many hits in The Philippines 🇵🇭. Jonalynn Viray sings opera and other styles. The late Elizabeth Ramsey met The Beatles in The Philippines 🇵🇭. Ramsey gave birth 👶 to Jaya in 1970. That was the same year that her friend Regine Velazquez, Debbie Gibson and fellow New York state friend Mariah Carey was born. I remember Jaya Ramsey back in the 1980s. She opened for Stevie B in world tours. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Jona Viray and Morissette Amon sing Problem and Emotions. 2 Jaya Ramsey and Stevie B sing If You Leave Me Now 3 REO Brothers sing Ventura Highway 🛣
I discovered your reaction video a bit late, but it's good to see vocal coaches seriously analyzing and appreciate Jona because they haven't been doing it for a few years for some reason, they did about five years ago. There are some that have done multiple videos of Morissette and Katrina and even Gigi but none of Jona and I try to let them know she's one of the best in the world, and especially in the Philippines, but they are slow to catch on. Jona did a very recent performance of Over the Rainbow in this Patti LaBelle style on May 9. It has better audio than the video you react to and she's still able to do the same thing at 34 years old. Search RUclips for: Jona Viray - Over the Rainbow - The Grand Mammangi Musical Festival 2024 - May 9, 2024
Sorry if others commented on this already - but another thing I love about the Jaya/Jay R/Jason Dy collab is that the age ranges don’t matter. Jaya (born 1970), Jay R (born 1981) and Jason Dy (born 1990). How often do you see individual artists with age differences like this collab so beautifully like this???
Katrina Velarde’s version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is so good as well, I don't want to say it was much better they're both good. If you want to hear her voice acrobats. Then listen to this version of kat
Another great addition, to the likes of Regine and Jaya is Lani Misalucha. Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin (Will Love You Tomorrow- loose translation) via the Wishbus would be an introduction.
You can also react on Jona’s version of QUEEN OF THE NIGHT ARIA, Jona is one of the ACES singers in the Philippines. She can do pop, ballad, opera, broadway etc. she’s so versatile. Better to react on her videos. Thank you so much in advance 😊
Now I just finished watching both reactions to Jona, how you got goosebumps all over. I've been following Jona for about 10 years and she's the only singer that gives me goosebumps, or chills as I say. Part of it is that she goes from sweet and soft to suddenly explosive which has an extra goosebumps inducing effect, it's really the tone of her voice also. By the way, the last few years she has developed her very credible classical singing voice.
Jona is a versatile singer, she is known as “Fearless Diva” as she keeps on trying how she can do. She’s a pop singer but can do opera also. She won lots of awards internationally even at age 16. She can sing you songs with big notes but also can sing songs like lullaby that are soothing to hear. Please react more to her songs like “My Saving Grace” (1 take only from start to finish) as you can feel how she likes Mariah Carey, “Kahit Kailan” as she sings like a human flute, or “Magic Flute” with Lani Misalucha and Darren Esparto. Thank you heaps 🎉❤
Proud Filipino here.God has really blessed us with this incredible talent.(i myself used to sing professionally years and years ago,) In every street you'll hear people having a good time with their karaoke). Just subscribed.Thank you for kind words and praises.❤
I want to thank you for all the hard work you do and the time you invest in these videos. I do volunteer work every Friday, so I sadly miss joining you live. As rewarding as my volunteer work is, what I look forward to the most at the end of my day is watching your video. It's my favorite Friday night treat!
Hello Richard and Johnny! I started watching you a few weeks ago and I was delighted to see a professional vocal coach and a perfect pitch musician together reacting to videos of singers here in the Philippines. It's a pity I can't catch the live shows every Friday because I'm busy, but whenever I get home from work, I make sure to watch your videos before I go to sleep. I hope your channel grows, especially since I'm learning a lot from you, and that you continue to provide high-quality reaction videos like these.
Morriesette and Gigi tony braxton medley, Jayson Dy,Darryl Ong,Jay r and Eric Santos ,Say you'!! Never go and Filipino Voice kids nailing English songs, thanks!
For the REO Brothers, check out their covers of The Eagles' New Kid in Town, and the Bee Gees' Too Much Heaven and How Deep Is Your Love. All great performances! You should check out Jona with Klarisse De Guzman singing Tell Him by Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion or the trio of those two with Morisette singing the medley of Let It Be/Someone You Loved/Memories.
Please watch the duet performance of Regine Velasquez and Jonalyn Viray "I believe I can Fly. It was Jonalyn's concert and Regine was the very special guest. That was a massive performance from both Regine and Jonalyn! Hopefully you can react to it. Please please please...
Next Filipino Fridays suggestion: 1. Charice Pempengco Note To God (on Oprah) 2. Katrina Velarde Momma Knows Best I Surrender ( with Jessica Villarubin) Burn (Impersonations) 3. Lea Salonga The Movie in My Mind (with Rachelle Ann Go)
I thank you for appreciating our Filipino singers,I love watching your channel especially when you're reacting to Filipino singers;they are truly amazing, so are you guys❤
4th Impact (formerly 4th Power)would be another addition in your long list of Filipino singers. They are made up of 4 siblings. Try their Britain's Got Talent audition of the song: Bang Bang (cover) 2015.
Lea and Regine had a duet, this was during the pandemic when everyone was staying home. And they were accompanied by a piano. Hope you can check that out Jaya and Regine are very good friends and they were together in a variety show for many years so yes they do have duets from previous years
Leah Salonga has that perfect pitch. During one of their rehearsals for Miss Saigon, she walked in during someone's practice run, and told Cameron they were using a wrong note. Even at that young age, she was able to hear that even though the one who wrote the music didn't.
I’ve watched two live concerts of REO BROTHERS here in 🇺🇸, they’re are amazing!…they have a lot of covers of different singers…the group has now five members…a younger brother joined them…I think they had a world tour last year, if I’m not mistaken…thanks for reacting to them…I’m a fan!
THANK YOU for watching! If you enjoy this video, please hit LIKE and SUBSCRIBE or buy us a coffee at buymeacoffee.com/throga

Mori,Jona and Katrina are all powerhouses. We call them the "Vocal Trinity" here in the Philippines.
Sooo true, VOCAL TRINITY! I hope Rich and John can discover more of their very impressive performances. So, keep on recommending guys.🥰👍
They're a 'new' trinity. The real Vocal Trinity is Regine, Lani, and Jaya.

Jona's voice has clarity and emotion❤
Try reacting to Lani Misalucha Bukas na lang kita mamahalin on the wish bus. Lani is also one of the best alongside Jaya and Regine. Thanks so much
remembering how the three of them used to sing together every weekend!
Her performance with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra is a better choice.

Jaya is the daughter of Elizabeth Ramsey, a great Filipina entertainer who sang with Johnny Davis Jr in Las Vegas back in the 70s
"Johnny" or "Sammy" Davis, Jr ?
This concert of Lani, Jona and Darren is phenomenal. This is the same concert people are requesting for Phantom of the Opera for Opera last time. Need to check Lani Misalucha as well.
Thank you guys for always featured our Filipino singers.
We love you so much guys. God Bless!
Morissette was put on a spot 🇨🇦interviewer ask? Who would you like for a ( Vocal Trinity ) . She literally said… Ate Jona and Katrina 💯

4th Impact (formerly 4th Power)would be another addition in your long list of Filipino singers. They are made up of 4 siblings. Try their Britain's Got Talent audition of the song: Bang Bang (cover) 2015.
Marcelito Pomoy's cover of Time To Say Goodbye in the Americas Got Talent Champions Edition is a banger.
Next time, if would be circling back to Reo Brothers, try their cover of Sultans of Swing. They also have other medleys of Beatles Songs.
Another addition, in the likes of Gary V, Regine, Jaya, and Lani would also be Martin Nievera. He has a couple of Wishbus performances too.
Please react to mori singing
-I'll never love again
-this is me
-No more tears
-its all coming back to me
Thank you for featuring Jona😊 please react to “My Saving Grace” no autotune, 1 mic, 1 take only 😊
So much to enjoy 😊
I think you should try her version of My Saving Grace by Mariah. For sure you're gonna like it.
Also, would be ice to see you react to Jona and Klarisse with "Tell Him." Thank you!
Agree!

This is how great filipinos sings anything and everything they can nail it
Lea and Regine had a duet, this was during the pandemic when everyone was staying home. And they were accompanied by a piano. Hope you can check that out
Jaya and Regine are very good friends and they were together in a variety show for many years so yes they do have duets from previous years
Leah Salonga has that perfect pitch. During one of their rehearsals for Miss Saigon, she walked in during someone's practice run, and told Cameron they were using a wrong note. Even at that young age, she was able to hear that even though the one who wrote the music didn't.
Please react more of JONA. She's incredible!! 😻 You may check her ASAP vids with Mori, Klarisse, Angeline (they are BIRIT QUEENS there)
Lani Misalucha is awesome! Great vocal range❤
Jona is amazing. She's as talented as Morissette but quite underated.
Please do react to Jona " My Saving Grace" and Elain Duran " Someday" and "Emotion"
