This was so much fun for me to watch and listen to. I knew nothing, absolutely nothing, about the Gilmore Girls show and to hear your thoughts about and to see the knit wear designs from the show was seriously great. Thank you for all of the immense time you’ve put into creating this video. I’m looking forward to more. As far as famous knits that I would love to create, I would say that they would come from Wednesday and from Schitt’s Creek. ❤
Wow. I loved this! I agreed with it all. I still have the Knit 2 Together book!! I loved the more colorful knits. After they let the leash off of Paris character I liked so much of her wardrobe. The plain old I Smell Snow hat was my first coveted piece.! Great work. Thanks!
So glad you enjoyed this Cheryl! I agree about Paris' post Chilton clothing. Very fun and surprising for her character. Knit 2 Together is such a good book with patterns I'd still like to make.
Love the show. Love the knits of all of this. I look at it like what happens when someone is given everything, looking past her faults because she was portrayed as sweet, smart, kind, deserving in some way. I know. It's hard to wrap your mind around. Maybe we can take it as a warning?
Yes, it could be. I also know that I cared a little too much what happened to that character, lol. It is only tv. And I still like to watch the show. Making this video made me want to even more.
I loved the episode :) Especially your analysis if the story arcs and characters ❤️ And even though I lack the fantasy to imagine those 2000-style-knits into something I'd like to wear, I really enjoyed your round up :) Knitted by Whitney podcast just! put out a video about size inclusive patterns for Gilmore Girls knits. What a fun coincidence :) Thank you for all the work you put into this. Love it.
I checked out Whitney's video, which she said was inspired by Starcrossed Knits video, then I found another one by Knits by Mandy! Clearly it is GG time of year. It's weird that I didn't see any of them when I researched this video, but maybe they weren't out yet. I feel like all of the search engines are failing me lately. I guess I'm glad I didn't see them or I may not have done this video bc it was a monster to edit. However, now that it's done, I'm glad I did it. And I did like hearing all of their perspectives on the show. Mandy gets more into storylines and I found it funny where we lined up on that.
Thanks that was so much fun to watch! I'm now planning to rewatch the gilmore girls too. Your striped scarf is really lovely, it's a scarf I might actually be tempted to knit too as they seem to go on forever.
I always enjoy your talkative episodes. Gilmore Girls were talkative in a different way - or I was just so much younger and felt drowned in words😂. I watched while knitting a Halloween hat I need on Tuesday for work - just a last-minute project, so being talkative was fine, I did not feel the need to do anything other than just listen and concentrate on my knitting😉
So happy to accompany you Halloween knitting. Last night was Halloween and I realized we had no costumes, no decor in our yard and now people really go all out in this neighborhood. So we threw a shirt on our big dog and I played a Halloween soundtrack as we handed out candy, lol. The laziest decor ever.
I watched a few episodes of Gilmore Girls over the years but I never noticed the knits and crochet before. Thank you for sharing the nostalgia! I would love to try the “Die Jerk” sweater but I would use Iron Lamb’s “Granny Go Round Jumper” pattern for the top and solid hdc stripes for the body and sleeves. This would be the perfect advent project! ❤
Oooh thanks for the pattern tip, Kalen! I really like that version. More than the one in the show for those raglan sleeves. And yes, a great idea for Advent minis!
So fun! My youngest daughter and I loved the Gilmore Girls… and yes, she landed up going to Yale… and yes, her daughter is named Aurora (who prefers “Rory”) 😂
Haha! Wow, what fun coincidences! I think a lot of young women were drawn to Rory because she liked to read and had serious goals. There weren't a lot of tv show characters with those interests at the time. And if there were, they were often the weird friend to the star or something. I like that about Rory, too. So, is the bulldog mascot of Yale a real thing?
This was so fun to watch!! I don’t know if it would give you enough content for an entire episode, but the knitwear Zach wears in SBTB: The College Years is divine 😍. There’s something about those 90s and early 2000s shows that just got the knitwear right (minus the argyle obsession lol)
Yes, late 80s to early 2000s Interweave had tons of those fun cable or graphic patterns, too. I never watched Saved by the Bell. I'm not too old for it, bc I remember having friends who watched it but I must've been "too cool (I say as I talk about sweaters worn by tv show characters for an hour) 😂😂 I'm going to check out those sweaters. I was recently working on a knit and rewatching 80s tv sitcoms, just picking episodes at random to see what sweaters were like in them and I saw so many I loved. I will definitely be mentioning SBTB
I really love Lorelai's cardigan over a floral dress look. But I wouldn't try to pull it off myself. I love love the sweaters Grace wears in Grace and Frankie. I had to make a bundle on Ravelry just for inspo for her sweaters.
It looks like the standard swift you might could pick up at KNit Picks to me, but I don't know a lot about the different kinds. I only got a swift recently. A friend pitied my ball-winding sessions and sent me one, lol. I still wind Cascade Eco by hand and with those mega skeins, I can feel it afterward.
A swift is one of my one day list things. I know what you mean with feeling it on your hands, I for some yarn resently that I had to wind of the cones to be able to pack them and I really felt it

Yes, Schitt’s Creek has some awesome knits!!!

@@mysocalledhandmadelife Yes, indeed it is! Thanks for all the effort you put into the podcast 😀

I've never watched that one, but I will check out those sweaters. When a character inspires a whole ravelry bundle, you know there's good stuff there!
I love the swift she is using !
