I think the rules say that the winning car can be bought by a competitor for a max of 1000 euros and the owner is obliged to sell when an offer is made. It keeps the racing honest and affordable. I think Guy is too fond of that merlin to let it go for a grand
@@spearhrower na not offers the car go up for action after the race and anybody can bid for 20 euro for each bid and winner has to pay 800 or 850 euro for the car but u can bid for your own car to, lets sey one car has 100 bids they gona draw one winner randomly
@@gallsta3647 right, I thought it might be along those lines though, wasn't sure of the details I've seen an old plane engine in a Rover SD1 so it's kinda possible
Oh that’s just a joke… I’m sure Guy is perfectly happy with the Merlin sitting right where it is… in his garage, where he can blow the fall leaves away, anytime he gets the notion…
In the 80s in Germany in the forces; me and my mates thought volvos were square...(yep in shape they were), but a sgt owned a 440 that looked shit, but moved like shit...I guess he had the turbo. From that day I started respecting them.the740 glt was ok.
LS engines are fantastic, they're so small and light they fit in anything. BUT, they're very rare outside North America. Only ONE car officially sold in Europe had them. The Australian made 2dr Holden Monaro & 4dr GTS👍!
I just came to this after watching a clip on FB where they had just bought a sedan in London . GM wanted an estate really then they found out it was an automatic. Was that car abandoned ?
These are teasers for the TV show on 4ondemand. Would be good if they had the main show on C4 then Guy and Cam released behind the scenes/more details videos of taking the engine out/apart for petrol heads who are interested in that kind of niche details even if it’s just a camera on a stand and some mics.
more power is always a thing in folkrace everyone spends way to much money on the engines to get more power they also cut as much weight out of the cars ans possible with polycarbonat windows that are as thin as possible
Put a chevy 305 smal block in it... it fits just need to modify enginemounts, a bellhousing adaptor for the M45 4speed transmission, extra upper strutsupport, and thicker springs in the front. its pretty strait forward
The whole idea is to get as much power,as cheaply as possible,so that’s not a good idea.Chevy engines are not easily available in the U.K.,unlike the U.S.,where you can pick one up at the local breakers yard!
@@dennislane100 Exactly.... Americans always think Chevy, Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler & Ford trucks are sold all over the world ! This racing series Guy is entering requires the engine to be from the same company as the car.
Mmmmmm.............safety was not thought about...........yes and no.. Gross Minger is supposed to have persuaded Henry's lads to take out seat belts they had fitted in the 50's 'cos it would give the idea that cars were not safe..
Guy... oh aye she's boxy but can tek a reyt decent bit of shove.... Sticks a stonking great engine in.... Oh aye, see, she's feisty! Now I want to swap my v40 for one...

Stick a polestar engine in it
How about a pair of sport bike engines in one, inside that boat now? Talk to Allen Millyard! 😀
"sounds like two skeletons playing ping pong in a dustbin" This made me laugh hard!
I bet in the back of Guy’s mind, he’s thinking, “I wonder if I can fit my Merlin engine in that Volvo….?”

I loved watching Volvo wagons in BTCC. The huge contrast of a long boxy wagon Vs sporty looking Renaults & Mondeos was hilarious !
Ah yes. The good old days of BTCC...
Brilliant.... Love Guy's videos... At last a video that isn't a test of BMW iX.
“Sounds like two skeletons playing ping pong in a dustbin” 👊🏻🤣
Two skeletons playing ping-pong in a dust-bin. 🤣 😂
well he could hardly say "shaggin' in a tin bath"
Volvo invented the 3 point seat belt and left the patent open so anyone could use it.

Get a t5 in it guy lol cool
That engine was shitting itself when it knew Guy was behind the wheel..Proper blown 😳
LS swap on the way. Wheels and tires that can handle the power. Lowered with suspension upgrades and sway bars. 😊

It was going great. Right up until it wasn't.
I'd scream and cry if that happened, these guys just laugh.
"Sounds like two skeletons, playing ping pong in a rubbish bin"....golden!
The 240 was (and remain) my kids dream
Please make longer videos PLEASE

Shat itself 😆
Legend 🇬🇧👏
2.7 volvo engine coming right up?
Scania Truck Turbo on the next one Captain!
well there was saab
Hahaha, I've heard it as "two skeletons having sex on a tin roof during a hailstorm"
I own a rare manual v50 t5. 220 bhp alloys similar to Guys 240
Hes bonkers
Knock knock guy
Sounds like a big end gone bye bye.
Possibly a new vent/window in the block made by a rod.
Now air-cooled.........
Is that the engine Guy put together himself? 😜
Guy should have been the choice to take over Top Gear
Guy! Look at another youtuber called " Mackans garage" and look at his 240 projekt
more power is always a thing in folkrace everyone spends way to much money on the engines to get more power they also cut as much weight out of the cars ans possible with polycarbonat windows that are as thin as possible
impress with 112hp xD
I wish we would see Guy take the engine apart to at least diagnose it
you want to drop a b6304 out of a 960 in that.
As much as I like my Volvos the banger boys would probably drop an old 2.8 Ford lump in it!
Urrggh Ford V6, that's NASTY !
It's ok,I reckon supply is getting short.
Dont worry. Its a Volvo, the thing is still good for some laps on the odometer
Yeah it's a redblock though so you can have another engine in there in like two hours.
JUst change the oil, it'll be fine.
Knackered
Do what the banger drivers do stick a 2L Pinto lump.in
No 3 piston.
Cut the roof off it and turn it into a pick up
Every time, You put an old car on track, PLEASE CHANGE THE HEADGASQET!
That's a shame, i just sold 2 230FK block, i would have donated one and sold the other :/
Why does he always look like he needs a wash?
Honda K-swap

You know, that in folkrace, if someone offers you 750 for the car, you HAVE to sell it for that price…

In folkrace I think they approach 180hp or a bit more. A lighter and more Rev happy engine is more useful on the track than a big v8 lump I recon.
@@neonalon An alloy LS is actually lighter than any original cast iron 4cyl.
Well, I guess you haven't properly tested the car untill you know the breaking point
Not true. The Tucker had many safety features well before Volvo did.
FFS i thought that was some nob crashing a Volvo into a Caterham at the start!
5 cyl swap
Needs a Rover V8...

this show was absolutely terrible, nothing happened. 45 minutes of faux reality tv.
What a pile. Trust guy to work like a dog to put it right.
It’s still going to be a pile though. Get a SAAB bro.
