When I put my foot extreme far back touching the kicktail I feel I stall the board since my front foot is not able to puch down because it's not front enough that can use my bodyweight appropriately. I think the best backfoot position at the center of the tailpad above the front fins. Correct me if I am wrong

Hey, thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. You are correct in that if you try to surf with your foot all the way back on the tail pad throughout the whole wave you'll be stalling the surfboard in times of speed generation. As you noted the center of the tail pad is a good neutral position for speed generation, to step farther up from when you want to barrel ride or to step farther back from when it's time to do a turn or maneuver. That adjustment of your back foot is necessary on almost every wave. If you want to do more radical turn or maneuvers you have to get that foot back during your preparation and step up for the maneuver. Does that make sense? Feel free to email and we can discuss in more detail. chapin@surfprotechniquss.com Thanks again!
