Two questions: When you cut the bronze guide from the top, the video shows more than an inch sticking out but you do not show the process. Do you use the cutter to cut the full inch down or do you cut it within a quarter inch or so with a cutoff wheel and then use the cutter? Second question: After the head has been in service for a while and it comes in for a new valve job. After you drive out the bronze guides, the original guide has already been cut .030. Does the guide uninstaller mar the inside surface of the cast iron guide or can you just install a new sleeve? Hopefully these questions make sense. Great video, thanks for your time, dan...

Dan, Since your questions have been here for 2 weeks with no reply, I'll give it a shot. I've used Kline guide liners in my shop on every job you can imagine for 20 years. The carbide trimmers will work fine on any length sticking out. turn them fast with an air drill. The removal tool works really well, if you screw up on putting one in and splits the liner in 2 positions on the ID and will catch about 3/4 of the way down pushing the liner out without a mark on the bore. However, if you are replacing someone elses liner job you will probably find that their brand liner, tooling, or technique will probably leave an oversize hole. also don't use an oven cleaning system on the head if you intend to leave the guide liners in it. It softens them and they will be loose. I have never had a failure with bronze liners except when they were left a little too tight on the exhausts. you will need an assortment of ball broaches to get the clearance right. Good luck, Dave Richards

you certainly started with a turd for a head, with the work you're doing, now it's a turd that's going to drop a valve.
