Teemu, this is Allied propaganda ;) They just want us to stayfirst behind their 9-3 line as long as possible for them to increase closure and hfc possibility or whatever it was. After that you have bled all your energy and they turn behind your 9-3 line and shoot you down. Fits only to slower angle-fighters... or equal 1 vs 1. Fly bf109 and fw190 so that this theory is useless against you...
I dunno about calling it Allied propaganda...This is the kind of stuff they teach today's fighter pilots going through their training, so it is applicable regardless of the airplane you are flying ;-) I just choose what I feel is the easiest way to express the concepts. These introductory BFM videos are all about laying the ground work to understand the more complex stuff later on.
I am Very New to Flight Simulator World . Just trying out Rise of flight for the first times , Planning to buy Joysticks and head tracking in future and maybe move over to il2 great battle series . Your Tutorials have been very Instrumental in learning. Nothing short of a Combat Flight Academy. Thank you for your hard work passion and dedication. Thank you So Much :) I hope one day I can learn enough to have a virtual flight with you Requiem ! Till then , Fly Safe !!!
Thanks Sim Deck! Glad to hear you like it, just hiding away here making my stuff when I can. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see I'm all ears :-)
So it's not nearly the same but with Star Citizen's new flight model with more atmospheric disturbances and realism (still far from perfect) these tactics are becoming more and more necessary. Thank you for these videos!
Wow finally videos that are to the point, clear and concise about this subject which can for many(well, myself at least) be somewhat non-intuitive in its complexity and scientific nature! For the most part when I've made attempts to improve my grasp of air combat theory, I end up just reading a bunch of abstract concepts and mechanics described in language that may as well be Greek for all I know, you do the terminology but you also explain it in a way that a layperson can understand, and on top of that represent it visually with brilliant result, great stuff, really! If I wanted to offer a tiny bit of constructive criticism, I'd say the sound could use a bit of improvement, mainly trying to adjust so volume is consistent between cuts and either get something to muffle it or try to be aware of breathing when talking to not breath into the mic, as it can block out words at times. Very minor issue but thought I'd mention it since some like to hear what can improve.as well as what is already great :) Thank you so much! WIll recommend this series for anyone looking into flight simulators or games!
Succinct explanations with excellent visual aids; You make this stuff look easy, I love it! Are you going to go more in-depth on out-of-plane maneuvering later on?
Thanks Wraith, it may look easy but it takes a ton of time to get these videos to this point. I spend a lot of time reading and condensing the information, filming it, editing it, then getting it peer reviewed, then extra edits as required...It's why I don't put out videos as fast as others you see on RUclips. We'll be getting into the out of plane stuff later, but I'm just trying to start with the building blocks for someone with zero knowledge otherwise it becomes a confusing mess if I jump around to different topics.
Could do with a video on effective defensive formations that bomber players can adopt when working as a team and explain advantages & disadvantages regarding defensive fire plans coping with attackers: Echelon. Flat Vic. Tilted Vic. Diamond. Tilted Diamond. Square. Tilted Square.
Nice. I get now why the F22.& F 35 fighters got an advantage over others fighters. Can put a vandit behind him in a lag persuit faster & reposition themselves in pure persuit in seconds.
I've played the Battlefield series since 1942...and yet I hate flying airplanes in them. They just never felt like they flew right to me. That coupled with the difficulty in maintaining tally turned me off flying them so I don't really have much experience with the aircraft in Battlefield.
Hi Requiem, I'm still referring to your tutorials all the time, they are very informative and helpful and easy to follow and absorb ! But I still haven't found a way to record my flights using Tacview to get the blue and red ribbons to see how I have performed. Would you consider a tutorial to cover this area. Many thanks Doc.
If it's in multiplayer Tacview can be disabled by the server itself, but in SP or servers that enable it Tacview should work fine. You need to add this to your startup.cfg file [KEY = track_record] fx_sound = 2 record_graphics_effect = 1 record_ground_vehicles = 1 tacviewrecord = 1 [END]
@@RequiemsACTL Hi Req, I have seen on Tacview tutorials that some people do need to add files to get it to work properly ! Many thanks for your reply and help ! Keep it coming m8. 👍
HI, how can I select this plane in BOS? Just bought it a while ago and played for couple of hours and I don't see any spit. No DLC that contains spitfire as well or I just miss the thing.
A break turn is basically max performing throughout a turn to hopefully prevent a gun solution or missile shot against you, but a jink is a short defensive maneuver to defeat a gun shot
Don't do sorties alone. You absolutely need more than your own eyes to keep the air around you covered. Also, you might want someone to chase those pesky 109s and Yaks off your tail. Flying in squadrons doesn't only help you to stay alive by shooting down all attackers that are behind you, but it basically gives the enemies something else to shoot at, so they can't focus all their attention on you. Get onto Discord or Teamspeak and get someone to fly with you. Don't be afraid to talk to people and after a while you will have your dedicated squadron. On one hand, as you keep practicing, this allows you and your new friends to work very efficiently when flying together. On the other hand, there's a good chance some of the people you met are more experienced pilots than you and might teach you some handy stuff. As a second tip I would recommend getting to know the capabilities of the different aircrafts. It's key to not only know your own aircraft, but also the enemy's. Don't stick to the 109 all the time - mix it up with some Yaks, MiGs and Spitfires and push them to their limits in combat. That's where their strengths and weaknesses become obvious. Of course, this will get you killed a lot at first, but it allows you to know exactly what the physical limitations of your enemy and yourself are, and with a bit of experience you can quickly develop strategies that exploit the weaknes of an enemy. Hope this helps!
Arthipex covered it very nicely, thanks! Don't fly solo and don't expect success to happen overnight. Focus on learning one airplane at a time and when you're comfortable branch out into a new one and learn that.
It just takes practice. Once you're comfortable flying the plane without thinking about it too much you can start dedicating some brain space to this stuff!
I wish I understood why it's not there. I've double checked and I don't see any submissions for it which is really weird. I haven't had an issue seeing subtitle submissions. Did you hit publish?
Just when I thought I'd need someone to visualize the theory in-cockpit for me, you bring this. Thank you!

that was incredible, amazing video
Great to hear you enjoyed it Salvando!
Great video! I'll definetly watch this a bunch more times and try to keep it in the back of my head while playing. Thanks

Thanks for the great vids mate. Extremely helpful.

The reason why I love flight sims is because the complexity of it all. It's quite impressive..

well done again!

The Spitfire Mk.Vb is available in Battle of Kuban Premium Edition. It's not in Stalingrad.
Should not aspect and HCA decrease in pure pursuit ?
Ngl I have no idea what you're talking about but I'm here anyway
Question: is the 3/9 line the white line on the diagram or the colored region behind the bandit?
The 3/9 line is a line extending through the bandit's from his 3o'clock to his 9o'clock. You're either in front of or behind it essentially.
what's the difference between break turn and defensive jink
A break turn is basically max performing throughout a turn to hopefully prevent a gun solution or missile shot against you, but a jink is a short defensive maneuver to defeat a gun shot
The Air Combat Tutorial Library Thank you very much!

Yep, I have Conan as one of the guys in my "email blast" to review BFM videos before they are made public to make any needed changes.
That's cool. Great to see you making videos again. Seems BoS has come a long way. I should fly again :\
