    I'm an avid Videogame nerd who used to enjoy books up until about ten years ago or so (the last major series I finished reading was Harry Potter).
    But for the past couple of weeks I strangely feel the urge to read more books and accidentally came across booktube and this channel. I was instantly hooked due to your energy, enthusiasm and passion for books which reminded me of how I used to adore books back in the days (I'm 31 btw).
    Have been watching your recommended videos from today morning and i compiled a list of YA books as fiction/fantasy is my favorite genre.
    Just ordered 10 books from Amazon hoping i would enjoy the journey as I used to be. Thankyou for your support Hannah...

    Devil in the White City is really good! It is a mystery-thriller but it's also a nonfiction book! There is a lot of technical information in it about the Chicago world's fair so if you're not expecting it, it might really throw you. It reads like a very descriptive, literary textbook. (But the mystery-thriller bits are really suspenseful and action packed) I highly recommend

    Ahhhhhh Devil in the White City is great. It's about the architects of the Chicagos world fair, and also the serial killer H.H. Holmes who used the fair to his advantage. Its technical and narrative and I love it. (Maybe because serial killers and Architecture are both passions of study for me lol) plus Larson's writing is incredible

    Ok.... this is an advice about Angelfall. Not spoilers
    Well, Angelfall is the first book ever published by Susan Ee so the book it's not really surprising about the writing and can be a little boring at first, BUT the book has a good story and the other 2 books are better.
    You can get to see the autor getting better and better with the other books.
    So please... PLEASE don't give up with the trilogy because of Angelfall. I promise it'll be better.
    You'll be angry, and sad, and happy, and frustrated... just, DON'T give up. 😀😗

    • @elinamauno8833
      @elinamauno8833 6 лет назад +2

      Someone else who defends Angelfall! It just bugs me that it's advertised as YA, because a lot of people run away from it thinking it's even close to the storyline of Hush Hush :D

    • @Kirgaby
      @Kirgaby 6 лет назад +1

      @@elinamauno8833 I know right? I don't even like Hush Hush.... if they where the same I would never read the trilogy. Also maybe it's about angels but it has nothing to do with hush hush or Daughter of smoke and bone or Shadowhunters...
      It's a different story.

    If you love Van Gogh, you may enjoy “Van Gogh’s Ear”. It’s a book that was turned into a BBC documentary. It follows his life and why he cut off his ear. The author of the book is an art historian and on the tv programme it shows when she found out the real reason about the ear and she was so so happy!

      Llpras Lapis I think the issue with Angelfall is that somehow it gets lumped in the YA category, where as I'd say it is very much adult fantasy with a teenage main character. So people expect lovey dovey YA :/

    Oh my God, If We Were Villains is one of my like top 5 books of all time. The writing style is beautiful, the characters and their relationships are all incredibly complex and well thought out, and it took me on one of the most intense emotional rollercoasters a book has ever taken me of. I love all these characters and their relationships so so much and this book has some of the most beautiful, visually stunning scenes I've ever read. It also subverts a lot of tropes, which is really refreshing. You should definitely put it at the top of your list! I'm so excited you picked it up!

    Don't know if I've reccommended this to you before or not, but if you want more books based off of Iran and Iranian people, I'd suggest Song of a Captive Bird by Jasmin Darznik. It's a novel about the poet Forugh Farrokzhad trying to make a name for herself in a literary world dominated by men and the writing is so, so gorgeous. It includes some of her poetry and feminist ideals from the early 20th century. I think you'd like it a lot!

    My college had a bookswap and since the books were free (you can take 3 books, more if you leave a book) I decided to try a genre I usually don't like. So I picked up a romance book - Quarantine by Katie Cicatelli-Kuc -and it wasn't until I left that I realized it was an ARC. And I feel kind of bad but it wasn't sold/brought just given away... also it says "uncorrected proof" on it and I know that means it might be full of mistakes and that my experience reading it will probably be different from someone else who read the polished & published version :/

I read it last summer and I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the style of the book. That book made me feel seen in so many ways. I’m beyond hyped to meet the author soon here at the upcoming Miami Book Fair.

    I've read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter... I struggled with the subject matter of that book, but her writing is great.
