yes, it really is a nice piece of kit. i haven't heard a dac that beats it for the price. its not harsh but some may perceive it as a bit bold sounding if youre not used to the revealing nature of it. in person, its actually quite warm but you hear lots of detail in the mids that is usually smeared on regular DS dacs.
Demetri J yes it is warmer but it is also more detailed and less 2 dimensional with more sense of space. IMO its better in every way than the modi 3. I also recently compared it to the chord mojo($600) and still preferred the modi multibit.
@@mykeldg I'm not surprised on the Mojo front. I had one and decided I liked my Fiio X5iii and to some extent my Cambridge Dacmagic XS over the Mojo. I sent it back. Now looking for a DAC to pair with my Alienware Alpha and output from TV to attach to my stereo. My Denon receiver is a little long in the tooth and not as detailed as the XS (which is currently being used as my PC Dac).
Thanks for the video! To me Multibit sounds "meaty" and "soulful". I wonder if throwing EQ to boost the lower bands would bring up the same characteristic to Mody3?
Eqing a ds dac would not yield the same result when i tried it. Since both dacs measure flat, i think its not on frequency response but more on how multibit resolves depth, timing and timbre. Also when multiple instruments come at the same time, multibit easily resolved it.
hmm with headphones (HD650, K712) I have found the Modi3 to be more detailed than the ModiMM. The MM though had much better imaging amd spacial cues. Sometimes I had the feeling the singer was right next to me. Don't get that with Modi3. For speaker use it's a no-brainer though, ModiMM all the way baby!
congrats, how do you like it? Modi 3 is quite a good dac already considering its $100. but the multibit really sounds lifelike and holographic on my system. i already sold the multibit only to find my self going back to it.
@@mykeldg Schiit cannot get their **** together. Ordered weeks ago, they didn't ship, then said in back order, then cancelled my order for no reason, then said oh, you have to pay again because we cancelled your order. Finally shipping today. What a joke.

eaasy win for the Modi Mutibit for me. in real life, the difference is more pronounced -- more separation in layering, depth and 3 dimensionality. better timbre of instruments.
That said, in my comparisons between the A9150 DAC and the Schiit Modi 3 with Hi-Res lossless music streaming from my ipad USB-C connection, the A9150 DAC wins for a better musical representation. To do that I used a USB-C to Optical converter. This is providing the digital sound signal in possibly the purest form to the Onkyo Optical Digital inputs at 192Khz. Sounds Amazing.
@@SVN1_8 i'll try to make a sound comparison video between the d50s,mimby & modi 3. to be fair, d50s is very good too. that is just my 1st impression but it may change.

@@mykeldg Thanks! I have the same setup ie Onkyo 9150 but currently running Modi3. Unfortunately the multi bit is not available. I’ll go with BiFrost.

Mantis modi multibit is much better. I also just got the topping d50s and modi multibit still beats it by a large margin.
