      Well I'm glad you found my channel! I try my best to mix up my videos with history/story telling in it. The next video I'm making will be about a murder that took place in the early 1900s from someone who played a part in SA history

    I worked for the hotel chain at the time and in fact managed the hotel at the time. The owner, Ms. Vickers, bought the whole acreage even though she only wanted the land where the hotel sits. The Onion heirs said “all or nothing”, wanting to cash in. Ms. Vickers agreed figuring she could always sell the additional land in the near future. I remember when a bulldozer started to demolish one of the Homestead structures when someone from across the way at City Hall came out and got the machine operator to stop. As I remember, a corner of a structure was knocked down,. That’s when the deal was struck and it became a win-win for the city and the hotel company.

    In the 80's/90's there was a fire in that house. My uncle worked for the Leon Valley Fire Department as a fire inspector. Him and my father helped clean the house out. I still have a Wescott Ruler that was found in the house on my desk. As the story goes, when my father found it, it was on a bed and it stood up on edge by itself. Now I own it. LOL! Creepy.

    • @thesaexplorer
      @thesaexplorer  2 года назад +1

      That's right I did hear about a fire happening there. Also heard that a lot of satanic rituals happened there when it was abandoned. I should've included that info on my video

    I passed this place alot in the 80s and 90s when it was a vacant and decaying old house. I always wondered why it was there considering how it totally stuck out with all the modern businesses around it at the time. No marking or sign, no fence. Just an ancient house.

      Yup, I think this was due to the fact that the family no longer lived at the residence shortly after his death in 1882. They still owned and ran the property but sold parts of it off sometime in the 1910s I believe
