For various reasons I can believe the executed guards were either buried in unmarked graves or (more likely) their remains were cremated with their ashes disposed of unceremoniously. Considering the abhorrent crimes they committed the whereabouts of their remains aren’t something people should worry about.

This is not a mystery. The bodies were transferred to a local medical school and dissected by students. Whatever remained were buried unmarked and forgotten. This has been known for years.
Read many years ago that some guards, although I'm not sure at which camp, after execution, were cremated in the same crematorium that their prisoners were cremated, as a final insult to the memories of these human animals. Then their remains were scattered in unmarked locations. It's quite possible that the same fate happened to these "women", and Gdansk, being a port city, their remains thrown into the sea.

And it's one of those stories that has just stuck in my memory. Most of my books were lost (along with my house, and my militaria collection) during one of the major bush fires we had here in Australia in the '90's. Think it may have been the camp where they found one of the guards actually hiding in an oven, (Auschwitz or Mathausen?) but can't be certain. Love the channel by the way. What about the explanation that the bodies went to medical schools for disection/training for medical students? Typically, that means the bodies will be eventually disected into unrecognizability, and would be in pieces. When the bodies have no further utility to the schools, and in a very real sense, are indistinguishable as to identity, remains are usually cremated or mass buried if not claimed. Since the state exercised control of the dead bodies, it is not likely that the state would reclaim the unrecognizable pieces, and probably insisted they be cremated, and disposed of.
A good source of info about this is a documentary called ‘ The world at war’ and is available on video or DVD. A big plus is the voice-over is by Sir Laurence Olivier…
Still remember it on ITV (Thames Television) at the time of first airing as a young teenager; the opening scenes from Oradour with that narration left a lifelong impression.
Has anyone asked how you dispose of 4,000 bodies as claimed? Define what crimes were supposed to have occurred , because what is described is the murder of the guards .
